Glossybox February 2014

I finally received the press box of the Glossybox for February 2014 a couple days ago!  Better late than never, right?  February’s box was “The Month Of Love”.  The card included was beautiful.  When you flip it open it told you more information on the products inside.  The box actually looks pretty nice, and I am quite pleased.

Lauren B. Beauty Nail Couture in City of Angels ($18) is a gorgeous pink creme.  It is totally a “me” shade!  This is the type of color that is appropriate all year round and I love trying brands I have never used before.

Sumita Beauty is represented in the box with a Kala Color Intense Pencil ($15).  It is a brand that is new to me but I am pretty impressed straight away.  It is a high-gloss, deeply pigmented black liner.  It was inspired by the deep pigment of the kajal pencil and is long-wearing.  Ideal for applying to the waterline and can also be smudged on your outer lash line.

Pureology Serious Colour Care in Colour Fanatic ($24 for full size, this sample is worth $3.58) is a multi-tasking hair treatment spray that provides 21 essential benefits to prime, protect and perfect color-treated hair.  I do color my hair from time to time but it is usually the same color as my natural hair, just to make it look richer.  I will be excited to try it then.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster ($48 for 1 fl. oz., this sample is worth $24) is loaded with antioxidants to fight off environmental aggressors and moisture-binding ingredients to keep your skin nourished and protected.  This aromatic serum is absurd instantly and penetrates to the deeper layers of your skin to give you long-term results.  I have mentioned it before previously,  if you want to check it out click HERE.

The most exciting thing to me in the box were the Anotomicals Puffy The Eye Bag Slayer Wake Up Under Eye Patches ($11).  I don’t know about you, but when I was growing up I LOVED the movie “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” that came out.  The TV series that followed was okay, but that movie was awesome.  The name of these makes me snicker and I loved the patch itself (just did one last night).  It really does make my eye bags feel hydrated and they are slightly cool when you first apply so it gives me a sense of recharging.  They definitely looked like they had been woken up.  :)

Even though February’s box was a tad bit late, I am content with it’s contents.  The pickings were all very nice and all but one was a full sized item.  WIN!  If you are interested in signing up for Glossybox, definitely check it out!

Glossybox January 2014 Unboxing and Review

Press Sample, Affiliate link.

Glossybox is one of my favorite subscription services, it costs $21 for a monthly subscription and you save more when sign up and pay ahead for 3 months6 months and 12 months.  This subscription service just keeps getting better and better.  The first Glossybox of 2014 (January) is one of the best I have ever received.  I am completely impressed with the curation, presentation and overall value of this box.  It includes items from beautyblender, Toni&Guy, bellapierre, Vichy, and Balance Me.

The packaging is perfectly breathtaking, as usual.  I love the soft blue accent on the card that is welcoming us to the year 2014.  It truly felt welcoming.

Toni&Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray is a hair spray that creates texture and body with a light hold.  It is perfect for achieving the lived-in, messy, beach look.  I have had several of these over the years and I ADORE the way it makes my hair look.  You spray evenly from root to tip on towel-dried or even dry hair and work through to create tousled waives with natural movement.  I have even found Sea Salt Sprays helpful to re-vamp 2nd day curls.  The full size retails at $14.99 for 6.8 fl. oz. so this is valued at $5.50.

The Original Beautyblender beautyblender.pure is an ergonomically designed colorless sponge applicator that allows you to flawlessly apply your makeup and skincare.  It’s designed to be cleaned with its partner blendercleanser, making it super eco-friendly.  Great for sensitive skin.  I actually own a the original pink one and I have a full sized blender cleanser.  The blender itself is valued at $19.99 and this is full sized.  The small blendercleanser adds more value but I didn’t calculate that as it was just an extra.

Bellapierre Cosmetics Mineral Blush in Desert Rose is a gorgeous peachy, warm-toned rose shade.  It is a very creamy mineral powder blush.  It creates a soft, radiant glow for fresh-faced rosy cheeks.  This is apparently recommended by makeup artists and dermatologists, so it is suitable for all skin types and conditions from oily to dry skin.  It also says that it is good for mature and sensitive skin.  I love the shade itself and I see myself getting a ton of use out of it.  The full size retails for $20, and it is full sized!

Balance Me Super Toning Body Wash is an “invigorating, tone-enhancing, naturally foaming body wash with a signature super spa-inspired aromatic blend of juniper, bergamot, geranium and lavender essential oils.”  Sounds like heaven in my book.  I love getting shower gels and things like that in my subscription boxes.  I love having a variety of scents in my shower and I love being able to use things up so getting these sizes is satisfying for me! LOL  The full size retails for $14 and is 3.4 fl oz. This is 1.7 fl oz so it is valued at $7.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Rich Cream is meant to sooth and strengthen dry skin.  This paraben-free formula melts easily into skin and locks in moisture for 48-hour lasting hydration.  I don’t have dry facial skin so this isn’t geared toward me, but Vichy is a brand I have been interested in trying for some time now, so I am grateful of fit nonetheless.  The full size of 1.7 fl oz retails for $31 and this is 15 ml/.5 oz so it is worth a little over $9.

This Glossybox retails for $21 and the contents are worth over $61 and includes items that I am excited to have.  I think this could be my favorite Glossybox EVER!  I am certain that anyone that loves makeup and skincare would be happy to receive this box!

Check out the NEW Men’s Box that is perfect for gift-giving this Valentines day.

Glossybox December 2013

Press Sample, Affiliate Links.

Glossybox is one of my favorite subscription services, it costs $21 for a monthly subscription and you save more when sign up and pay ahead for 3 months, 6 months and 12 months.
When I see a Glossybox at my door my heart does a little leap for joy.  I know that when I open the box there will be things that I enjoy inside.  Also the box looks like a beautiful gift and everything is perfect, right down to the last detail.  The details are what make this service so special.
This Glossybox is full of great items and most are natural and/or organic.  Skincare and nail polish lovers beware!

This description card in this box looks just like a Christmas card and the sticker holding the tissue paper closed matches!  Really nice touch.

Moving on to the products themselves…

Anatomicals You Need A Blooming Shower
This shower gel is extremely aromatic, it smells exactly like a big bouquet of roses!  It is a combination of aloe vera and witch hazel and scented with rose and jasmine.  Extremely girly fragrance and paraben-free.  The packaging is really eye-catching due to it’s vibrant colors and simplicity.  The full size retails for $5.50 and this is exactly half of the full size, so it’s value is $2.25.
Michael Todd True Organics – Pumpkin Mask
I love anything pumpkin, especially skincare.  This mask not only contains pumpkin enzyme but also has glycolic acid, which dissolves impurities like dead skin and clogged pores.  This helps improve fine lines and wrinkles.  I love products that have all natural ingredients and this one is even certified vegan.  Full size retails for $34 so this is valued at $10.
Naobay Oxygenating Cream Moisturizing
The name is a bit strange because I would expect it to be named moisturizer not moisturizing but oh well.  It claims to keep the surface of your skin balanced, fresh and hydrated.  I tried it this morning and I really like the scent.  Even though it is a cream it is light and sinks in quickly.  It contains rosehip oil and sweet almond oil; this cream is natural and organic.  The full size retails for $44 so this is valued at $26 and some change.
Casswell-Massey Dr Hunters Hand Creme
When I first read the description of this hand creme I was enchanted.  “An original formula of natural rosewater, glycerin, sweet almond oil, and shea butter that is easily absorbed to soften and condition hands.”  When I read ingredients I can actually pronounce it makes me feel good about the product itself and makes me WANT to use it.  If I am calculating this correctly it is valued at $5.55.
Nails Inc Victoria Polish
I love getting full sized polishes in subscription boxes.  The one included in this box is a gorgeous deep cherry red.  It screams vampy and sexy.  Plain reds get so boring so something a little different is exactly what I needed to cleanse my palette!  It is valued at $9.50.

Excuse my nails in the picture above.  I haven’t cleaned them up yet!  :/  The below swatches are as follows: Dr Hunters Hand Creme, Noabay Oxygenating Cream Moisturizing, Michael Todd True Organics Pumpkin Mask, and the Anatomicals You Need A Blooming Shower.

This Glossybox retails for $21 and contained over $53 worth of products.  I am loving this box because I will get use out of  everything included and I can have a clear conscious because most everything in it is natural and/or organic.  If you haven’t tried this yet you need to immediately.  I have personally never been disappointed.  If you sign up for a subscription before the end of the month using the code GBPEN you will also receive an Ardency Inn Cream Eyeshadow Pen!

GlossyBox August 2013

This month’s GlossyBox was pretty fantastic.  I have had quite a few GlossyBox deliveries and they just keep getting better in my opinion.  In case you weren’t aware, GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription service.  Each month they deliver a great variety of products and most are full size.  Each month it runs $21.

This month’s theme is Bohemian Summer and I love the idea of that…  The products included are all seemingly full size with some added extras.

I love the variety of products provided in this box: skincare, makeup, hair products, nail polish…

One thing I am excited about is the Novex Brazilian Keratin Hair Care Treatment Cream.  I haven’t really jumped on that train yet, but I am glad to be able to try it.

Anatomicals Spray Misty For Me Facial Spritz is a refresher spray that contains lavender and peppermint.  Being that it is so hot out here in FL I am keeping this in my truck.  I have to get in and out of my truck several times during one day and it really is refreshing to spritz on.  On the weekends I keep it by the pool

Jelly Pong Pong is a brand that I have been interested in for a very long time but had no access to it.  The Pixiwoo sisters are who brought this brand to my attention.  I am glad to have this Lip Blush to test out.

Pandora Nail Polish is also represented in the box.  I had never heard of the company before but this is really quite a beautiful color.  It looks just plain white here but there are flashes of color in it that I couldn’t capture with my camera.  I know I took 2 dozen pictures and never picked up anything.  Really beautiful.

Sue Devitt is a brand that I have been enamored with for a long time now.  When I saw that there was a makeup item included in this box from the line I almost did backflips.  The Triple C-Weed Pressed Powder is so finely milled.  It comes with a sponge and a nice mirror.  The compact itself is so thin.  It screams high quality.

For the extras included in the box…  There was a really nice small bag that has GlossyBox on one side and Guess on the other.  It sort of has a throwback 80s feel to it with the light wash demin and white writing.  Really made me smile to open it.

Also from Guess is a 30% off coupon.

Overall it is a great subscription service.  The last few boxes have been full of things I would purchase on my on.  GlossyBox August 2013 gets a great big thumbs up from me.

American Beauty GlossyBox June 2013 featuring Dallas Shaw

Glossybox is my favorite of all subscription boxes.  There is always a generous amount of products from brands that actually interest me.  I opened up this box yesterday and was just mesmerized by the white (not pink) box and beautiful illustration on the front.  After digging in I saw the GlossyboxMag and I noticed that the cover is the artist of the illustration, Dallas Shaw.  Dallas Shaw also curated this month’s box: American Beauty GlossyBox.

The illustration is gorgeous and I, for one, am glad to own a piece of her work.  Now I just have to figure out what will go in it and/or where to display it!  :)  The pretty girl clutching her GlossyBox is dressed in a party-ready outfit.  Reminds me a bit of myself!

The same illustration is featured on the card that explains the items enclosed in the box.  I never let myself look at the items inside before actually looking in the box itself… sort of kills the fun of opening the beautifully decorated box.

Immediately upon seeing all that was included I had a huge grin on my face.  All of these products are great: some are generous sample sizes and a couple full size items.

After taking a peak I opened the card and read about the products.

c. Booth Honey Almond Nourishing Dry Oil Mist
“Elegant, nourishing oils absorb quickly into skin to smooth and soften while providing hydration.  This dramatically lightweight dry oil for face and body imparts a light, lasting glow for instant radiance.  Infused with a gentle, sweet blend of honey and almond, it’s the ultimate aromatic indulgence for the skin and senses.”

This stuff smells amazing.  I have never used a dry oil before either but this stuff really intrigues me.  I am excited to give it a go all summer.  The full size of 4 oz costs $8 and this is a 2 oz size.
$4

Philip B Lovin’ Leave-In Conditioner
“Philip B products revitalize every type of hair while evoking a warming, cooking or refreshing sensation and delivering a glossy, radiant hair.”
The Philip B product you receive will vary.  The one I received is the Lovin’ Leave-In Conditioner.  From their website it says this product does the following:
  • Polishes and seals dry brittle ends so your cut looks sharp.
  • Tamps down frizz; prevents color fading without weighing hair down; and shields against heat-styling damage.
  • Strengthens with restorative Soy and Wheat Proteins and healing Amino Acids.
  • Contains Chamomile, Nettle and Aloe extracts for extra moisturizing protection.
  • Leaves hair shiny and smooth with a touch of Henna and Horsetail.
  • Has a light botanical scent that’s appealingly, understatedly sexy.
This product also smells amazing.  You can definitely smell the chamomile and aloe… I am not sure what nettle smells like but if it smells awesome, you can smell it too! :D  The 2oz tube retails for $4.
$4

Oscar de la Renta Essential Luxuries
“Inspired by the designer’s mastery of fashion, Oscar de la Renta introduces a tailored line of six unique scents inbued with his love of beauty and luxury.  Comprised of specially sourced ingredients of the most exceptional quality, each fragrance echoes the close connections to Oscar’s vibrant life and loves, and perfectly speaks his language–find joy, be sparkling, feel gorgeous.”

The blue satin bag is filled with six sample sizes of his fragrances.  They alllllll smell great.  My senses are overwhelmed with this little bag.  I went over to the website for the fragrances and they put you through a little “this or that” quiz and it leads you to the fragrance that your choices tailor for you.  My quiz lead me to Sargasso – “A crisp, green, invigorating accord is the essence of sea spray.”  Yep.  That is me.
Each full sized bottle retails for $150.  The samples provided are undisclosed in size.  I have no way to gage the worth.

SpaRitual Nail Polish in Days of Wine and Roses
“SpaRitual offers a wide range of fun, sophisticated and modern shades to help you express the most colorful side of you.  The nail lacquers are crafted out of naturally formulated, vegan, certified-organic and fair-trade ingredients, resulting in superior texture and quality.  Colors will vary.”

The shade I got is UH-MAZE-ING.  I definitely got the color most suited for me.  It was funny because I was just taking off my last nail polish when the box came in the mail and I was going to put on a deep purple shade.  I already had it out waiting for me.  Some things are just meant to be.
Full size SpaRitual nail polish is $12.
$12

Tarte Complexion Enhancing Lipstick in Fair-to-Light
“Get total lip therapy in a beautiful nude shade that’s uniquely you!  These creamy lipsticks have a glossy, tinted core that gives the appearance of fuller-looking luscious lips.  Thanks to complexion enhancing pigments and emollient waxes, lips never appeared more youthful.”

The arm swatches below show the difference between it being swiped on and blended together.  On the left it is a direct swipe.  You can see the bright pop of color inside the nude shade.  The right side shows them blended together.

On the lip you can see how smooth they are.  It applied over my lips and left a smooth looking surface. They almost look wet even though all that is on them is this lipstick.  What a terrific product.  The full size of this lipstick costs $14.50.
$14.50

The June 2013 GlossyBox is worth $35+.  A month-to-month subscription costs $21.  There is also the option to sign up for six months or a year which will save you a bit of money.  You take a quiz and it customizes a box, which is a lot like most subscription boxes.  Even though the cost is a bit more, I find that I always receive products I will put to good use.
I would say that this GlossyBox is my favorite yet.  Really exciting.  You can sign up now for GlossyBox and get a free Model & Co Lip and Cheek Tint (worth $24) with the coupon code GIFT at http://www.glossybox.com.
*The subscription box above was sent in exchange for an honest review.  I am using a referral link.  All opinions are my own.

GlossyBox: International Style

I received my GlossyBox from February recently and I am excited to show you what it holds.  The theme for thox is “International Style“!  In case you aren’t familiar with Glossybox it is a monthly subscription box that costs $21 a month.
The card included was an adorable mail envelope print and went very well with the theme.  Inside it lists all the great products!

The box was full of mostly full sized products this go round, some of which from brands I had never heard of.  And I also want to mention that as soon as the lid was taken off the box the intoxicating scent poured out!  I tore through the box to find out what smelled so great and it was…

The BVLGARI soap that was included.  The scent is “au the blanc”.  I want this scent in perfume, shampoo, lotion, etc… It is really great!  Very luxurious and I can’t really see too many people not liking the scent.

Da Vinci Cosmetics Shimmer Powder was also included in this box.  In the card included they call it “one of America’s best kept beauty secrets”.  It is a versatile shimmering mineral powder that can be used as an eye shadow, blush or highlighter.  The color I got was 07 Harmony, and it is a nice and taupe-y shade… so basically limited to being used as an eyeshadow.
Lisi Liquid Line Eyeliner is exclusively available at a a boutique in New York.  The color I received was black, although it does come in all sorts of shades including deep shimmers, classic hues, and even some sparkles.  The applicator is really nice, perfect in size and able to deliver a thin precise line or a thick winged liner.

Another product included is the Nail Rock Nail Wraps.  I have been noticing them popping up in my local stores and had not picked them up to try yet.  I received a metallic animal print that is supposed to last up to 10 days without chipping.

Evologie eSystem Duo Pack Intensive Blemish Serum & Stay Clear Cream was also included in this box.  The card says “this power packed duo is the perfect travel companion for your skincare needs”.  It rabidly clears blemishes and recudes redness and post-acne scarring.  Sounds interesting and I plan to have it ready for when I go into the hospital to deliver my baby girl… It will be a c-section so I will be there for a few days.

Below are swatches of the Da Vinci Cosmetics Shimmer Powder in Harmony and the Lisi Liquid Line EyeLiner.

I enjoyed this month’s GlossyBox and I am sure there are more great boxes to come.

Glossybox: Glamour, Glitz and Gloss

This Glossybox: Glamour, Glitz & Gloss is the holiday edition box.  :D  I am adoring this box.  I honestly think that this is my favorite box yet.  There is a lot to show you, so if you wanna grab a drink or snack feel free to do that now…
Look how much stuff is stuffed into this regular sized box.  When I was bringing it into my house I was thinking to myself, “Man, this feels pretty heavy.”  And I wasn’t wrong.  I am showing these products in no specific order.

Mark Lipclick Luxe Lipstick in m.powerment petal is a gorgeous shade of lipstick included in the box.  The limited edition creamy rose lipstick is luminous and hydrating, but was developed to raise awareness for a powerful women’s cause.  Apply, close, then click with the metallic pink case that clicks every time you close it.  What a fun sound.  :)

In the tube it looks like a nice light rose shade, but my lips changed it into a bright pink color.  I agree with the claims of luminous and hydrating.  Look at the high shine that transferred to my lips.  Your lips may not have the same effect on the color as mine, but this is a gorgeous shade none-the-less.

Also as a special gift, Glossybox included a piece of jewelry from Jewelmint.  I am already a customer of Jewelmint and was THRILLED to see this in my box.  This little gift is worth the cost of the Glossybox alone.  Amazing.  This is the Treasure Trove Pendant.  It is super interesting because the top  pops off and there is a little hidey-hole.  The top pops right back on with a powerful magnet.  Very pretty!

Zoya Ziv is a gorgeous shade of ail laquer included in this box.  It is a beautiful opaque, sparkly, glitzy gold.  Amazing really.

It is hard to capture it’s beauty in 1 or even 2 pictures.  But as you see–it isn’t some flimsy little glitter polish.  It is a polish that happens to be glittery.

As you can see, in the dim flash the sparkle from this polish is amazing and over the top.  PERFECTLY in time for New Years Eve.

Since being pregnant all I want to do is take baths.  There are a couple of different products included in this box specifically for the bath.   The first being this Forest Essentials Luxurious Ayurveda Madurai Jasmine & Mogra Bath & Shower Gel. (Whew! Long title.)  It is a after-bath and shower moisturizer and it has a seductive blend of essential and all-natural oils formulated to leave your skin smooth, with a subtle, seductive scent.  Apply this oil on wet skin to seal in moisture.

The other product for bathing is a Heartland Fragrance Co. Bath Salt.  It is in the scent White Tea.  It allows you to indulge in healing aromatherapy with it’s 100% pure Epsom bath salts.  Treat yourself to a full body boose with these herb-infused accents in your bathing routing.  Use weekly to dramatically reduce tension and refresh your skin.

Issey Miyake Pleats Please was included in this box as a sample.  It is the EXCLUSIVE USA online launch partner.  It smells AMAZING!  It is a soft fragrance that is sensual, effervescent, and addictive.  It is supposed to embody the essence of joy, felinity, and elegance.

I am a huge fan of Wella products.  This box includes the Velvet Amplifier.  It is a velvety soft styling primer.  It is a concentrated serum to improve manageability and amplify control for smooth, responsive styling.

And the last thing included in this box is the awesome Glossybox Mag. It is a mini magazine that has tips and trends and write-ups on great products.  Always a fun read.

On the opening page there is a write-up on the Bath and Shower oil that is included in this box.

I hope you loved seeing all the great things included in this Glossybox.  I definitely enjoyed sharing them with you.  Do you subscribe to this program, if not then what are you waiting for???  :)

GlossyBox now available in the USA!!!

I know I’m a little late announcing it but I have been deathly ill for the last entire week. I hardly moved from my bed all week because I was so sick. So I finally got over wanting to take pictures of the box in good natural daylight and settled for taking pictures from my hibernation hole!!! :)
For those of you who aren’t familiar with GlossyBox it is a sample subscription box similar to BirchBox, Beauty Army, or even My Glam! I have been interested in GlossyBox ever since it launched in the UK. Some of my favorite vloggers dish about their awesome boxes every month. I have to say that their posts always make me drool with excitement.

This month, May, GlossyBox is debuting here in the US and it costs $21 a month. To kick-off their US debut they sent a lot of bloggers and YouTubers a special box of full size products. At first I was a little confused because it was entirely made up of full-sized products and it is a sampling subscription. If they are going to spoil the bloggers and YouTubers they contacted for the debut then hopefully the monthly boxes will also be completely awesome!!
For starters I am in love with the box the products come in every month. So chic! They are super nice and sturdy and absolutely amazing for recycling into a gift box! The tissue paper used in this box has a gorgeous international design on it!
In each box you get a card describing the items that came in the box itself. It gives you information on the product as well as prices of the full sized items.
I am fairly new to Cargo cosmetics–I have a blush and an eyeshadow– so getting to try more of their products was exciting for me. The Cargo Eye Bronzer is absolutely gorgeous. It’s an amazing coppery gold shade! It is very shiny and light reflective. Just like I like my eyeshades! Total win!!
Another item included in the box was a C. O. Bigelow body lotion. I don’t know f the scents varied from person to person but I got Lavendar-Peppermint. A lot of people don’t care for the scent of lavendar but I for one love it.
Basq is a brand that I had never heard of before receiving the Cucumber Tea Soothing Eye Gel in this box. I have used it every morning since I got this box (so about a week) and I love it. You can feel it cooling and possibly tingling after you apply it. I’m intrigued with this product and I am very happy I have been introduced to the brand.
One product I was over the moon to receive was a Kryolan High Gloss Brilliant Lip Shine in the color Toffee. It is a gorgeous nude shade and Kryolan isn’t yet sold in the US so this is currently exclusive to GlossyBox in the US!
OPI Kiss Me On My Tulips was in this box as well. Such a gorgeous pink for the summer. I can’t wait for my next pedi!

The only item we received that was more of a sample size was the Erno Laszlo The Hollywood Collection. It is a collection of creams developed over 85 years with some memorable faces in mind. ;) (Ava, Katharine, Marilyn, Grace and Greta!)
I really enjoyed the special GlossyBox I received and am very curious what to expect from GlossyBox in the future.  If you are signing up let me know in the comments below!!
xoxo,

Laura
