Chanel Perfection Lumiere: Long Wear Flawless Fluid Sunscreen Makeup

For over a year I have wanted to try Chanel Perfection Lumiere.  It isn’t a new product to the market, but very new to me.  I have a plethora of foundations and it is hard to justify a new foundation purchase a lot of times but curiosity finally got the best of me so I picked this up.  Mostly because my combo/oily skin changes to just oily in the summer months and they are fast approaching.

So for some background on the product…
Perfection Lumiere replaced Pro Lumiere in Chanel’s foundation line-up.  It is supposed to be lightweight, long-wearing, medium-to-full coverage, natural matte finish.  Sounds perfect for those with oily skin, right?
“Effortless to apply, with seamless blendability for a naturally flawless effect, this breakthrough foundation is the ideal all-day, everyday formula – available in a diverse range of 20 shades.  Apply the lightweight fluid texture of PERFECTION LUMIÈRE with fingertips or a foundation brush.

Its buildable texture offers adjustable coverage for a flawless, natural look that will last all day.

Apply more foundation on specific areas you wish to conceal.

The pump is fantastic, in that it dispenses a good amount of product and offers complete control.  I never find myself dispensing too much, always just the right amount.  The scent of this foundation is typical Chanel.  Sort of floral but not terribly overpowering.  The foundation looks perfect on me for around 6 hours and that is without any setting powder.
In the pictures below you will see my bare hand, dot of foundation and then it smoothed completely in. I have freckles and an age spot on my hand and you can see that with just one dot of the foundation they go from fully visible (also seeing a hint of blue from my veins) to everything looking quite diffused–but MOST importantly still looking like my actual skin.  After I snapped the pictures and edited them together the only way I was able to tell the two photos apart was the fact that the “after image” looked more blurred or perfected.
While it is great for my skin, it may not work for you.  I will say it again–this is best for people with oily skin.  If you have dry skin and you absolutely want to love this foundation you may want to make sure you keep your skin perfectly hydrated or this will not sit well.  It has a tendency to cling to dry patches, which I currently have because I am currently combination.  I have no real problem with it though because when I wear this foundation I moisturize and tend to wear some form of primer underneath.

Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation retails for $55 at anywhere that sells Chanel products.  I would suggest getting a sample of the foundation before going all-in and purchasing mostly because of the price.  I personally didn’t do that, but I most definitely did a lot of research before I made the purchase.  I love the foundation and I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.  I only took off half a star because of it clinging to dry areas, but I did find a way to combat that.  I hope this review gave you some good insight into the product itself.  Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts!!!
*This product was purchased by me and as always 100% my opinion.  I am not being sponsored for this post in any way.

Chanel Le Volume De Chanel Mascara

Chanel recently introduced a great mascara into their brand called Le Volume De Chanel.  With one of my last purchases I got this wonderful mascara as a sample and was completely impressed immediately.
I usually dislike sample mascaras.  A lot of the time you rarely get a lot of product to try.  This mascara had plenty of product that came out on the bristles on the first go.  The actual wand itself is great.  It is a

rubber bristle type of brush but the pattern in which the bristles sit on the brush are genius.  It will absolutely coat every lash on the first pass.  The formula is great because it is a bit wet but it sets up pretty quickly.  It is supposed to volumize and it does a great job at that.

As far as the sample of this mascara goes, I am in love with it…  The full sized mascara is another story.  I haven’t tried it in the full size (mostly because I have a ton of opened mascaras right now and no need to purchase anything additionally), but if it is like the sample then I am telling you–IT IS TERRIFIC!

Review and Swatches: Chanel Harmonie Du Soir Quad

Last year I missed out on the Chanel‘s Holiday Collection as a whole and specifcally I regret not picking up the Topkapi quad.  This year I was determined not to miss out on the Harmonie Du Soir quad.  It has the same round button look imprint on it and the colors were completely mesmerizing.  All 4 colors in the quad are ones I would buy on their own and completely drool-worthy.

I love that all of the Chanel products come in the cute duster bag-like protecters.  All of my Chanel packaging looks great because it doesn’t get scratched up from being tossed around in a makeup organizer.

I love the sleek black packaging of Chanel products.  Very simple and chic with nothing but the Chanel symbol on the center of the top.

And for the big reveal.  LOOK AT THOSE SHADES!  Gorgeous.  I would also like to mention that the top of the quad comes with a nice large mirror.  You can easily use this large mirror to do your eyes with if you are travelling.

With a closer look at the eyeshadows you can see the gorgeous imprinting.  I love that these look like buttons  you would find on a Chanel blazer. :)

In this quad there is a lovely silvery pink shade, a mauve-cranberry, a taupe, and a true gold.  The texture of these eyeshadows are much softer than their regular quads and super pigmented.

The non-flash swatches look sort of dull, but they are quite gorgeous.

This quad has 4 shimmer shades of eyeshadow, so if you don’t like a lot of shimmer these may not be for you.  I find that when applied to the eye it is a touch more subtle.  I would also like to mention that I have been using these eyeshadows everyday since I purchased it and only adding a matter skintone shade for my browbone.  The colors, even though they look very different, actually work together very well.  I have used all 4 shades in the same look the majority of the time I have used the quad and they blend effortlessly.

Again, the non-flash swatches look dull.  You can tell that the pigmentation is great though because these are just one swipe.

Overall, Chanel Harmonie Du Soir is a beautiful quad and I would rush to your counter or website to purchase it immediately.  It does retail for $65, but it is completely worth the price point.  I have used mine so much already that the pretty imprint is wearing off.  That is saying a lot coming from a makeup junkie like myself.  I have so many quads/palettes/single eyeshadows that I rarely wear the same thing repeatedly but wow… this quad is amazing.
Which Holiday 2012 collection are you most excited about this year?  What is it that is top on your wishlist?

Beauty Wish List

Hello everyone.  I have put together a few things that I want really bad right now.  I am to the point where I am about to break on a few of them and others are just out of reach.
First off, I want the IKEA Alex drawers.  I need a different form of organization for my cosmetics and this seems like it could really be the ticket.  They are super affordable but I don’t live near an IKEA.  A few months back I attempted to purchase it and have it shipped but they wanted over $200 JUST IN SHIPPING FEES.  So that is a no-go.  Next time I am in Orlando or Atlanta I am getting this bad boy!
The Kevyn Aucoin brand is coming out with a new skin product.  I believe the name is The Sensual Skin Balm Tint.  I may not be completely accurate on the name, but I know I want it.  I don’t even have to test it to know I want it.  I am in love with the Sensual Skin Enhaner (my shade is SX05).  I can’t imagine this product would be bad.
There are quite a few Chanel goodies I am lusting after at the moment.  One being the Notorious Sculpting Veil and the other being the Holiday 2012 quad.  Every time I go to a counter and ask my ladies about the Notorious product they look at me like a deer in the headlights.  I sort of get irritated when I get that look from beauty consultants… I probably shouldn’t, but I do.  I would love to be an SA at a Chanel or Dior counter and I know I would be gooooooood at it and for these ladies not to know what is going on with their own brand surprises me.
Last but not least is the Canon EOS Rebel t3i.  It is beauty related in the sense that I want to take better, more clear pictures for this site.  I think that my camera does an okay job, but it is pretty old and this one has all the bells and whistles.  I feel that if I can make a regular OLD point and shoot take decent photos then I can blow you away with this!  :)  It’s price tag is a hefty one though, so I am holding off for now.
What is on your wish list at the moment?  Let me know in the comments below!

Top 10 Spring Blushes

I am so excited to bring you my favorite Spring blushes…. Since we are already in May and going into the Summer I also find that these are very good for transitioning…. Hell…. looking at them I would consider them fantastic for the summer as well.  These are the blushes I wore the most this past Spring though.  I don’t foresee there being any change going into the Summer months.

I tried to include higher end and lower end brands… and everything in between respectively.

And there are some Limited Edition shades that I included but you can find dupes (or you may still be able to find the same one at your stores)…

Soo jumping right into it…
This blush is my most recent blush purchase but it was definitely needed in my collection.  I love that this is a cool pink-possibly the only cool toned pink I own.  It looks as though it is a baby pink but it is actually decently bright and more deep than a baby pink.  It is subtle but not… perfection in a blush if you ask me.  And of course, the scent of roses.  I catch myself breathing more deeply while applying Chanel blushes.  :)

Sephora + Pantone Blush Duo (Coral and Desert Flower)
This sort of shade is me through and through.  These have always been shades that I have gravitated to for years.  Yes, it is the color of the year but I suppose it is the color of my life.  I adore the versatility in the duo as well.  You can have matte or shimmery.  You can even mix the shades and come up with something that is perfect for someone that prefers either.  I honestly feel that this shade suits most skin tones.  I have a neutral skin tone and perhaps that is why I have always gravitated towards something like this.  I actually tend to stay in a medium with cool and warm tones in all of my preferences in makeup.

Sleek Santorini
This blush is an exception to my personal “rules”.  I tend to stay to a more neutral/natural palette of shades but this one is a screaming loud bright fuschia pink.  It is also matte which is hard to find in a shade such as this-perhaps why I am drawn to it.  It is the perfect pop to a plain face.  :)

This is a blush in which much of my love has been given.  I have had this blush for a long time and even though it looks barely touched, I assure you that I have worn it more times than I care to note.  It is one that I do tend to layer.  I love using Luster as a base for my whole cheek and then popping something beautiful and bright right in the center or on the apple.  It gives it a more natural gradient.  Luster is a good one for layering with many other colors.

I do believe this shade has been discontinued but I have seen it recently in some drugstores.  I adore this shade out of the 4 in the Mineral Blush line.  It is a beautiful coral pink shade and is perfectly pigmented.  I wore this shade a lot in the winter and it really transitioned nicely into Spring.  Now that Summer is fast approaching I don’t think that I will be reaching for it much because I do tend to reach for a big punch of color in the cheek department and this blush, though it is a hue that is good for Summer, is slightly more muted than I prefer.

Where do I begin with this wonderful gem?  I love this on the lips but it is even better during the summer months on the cheeks.  I do tend to have my makeup melt off more in warmer months and this is a perfectly perfect cream/gel tint.  I like to wear little to no foundation during the Spring and Summer and this really stains the skin perfectly and doesn’t fade on me like a powder does.  This will be a staple for me in the following months.

This is the blush that changed my world.  :)  Dramatic?  Yes, but I don’t know what it is about this blush that has my senses in a tissy.  I love the shade, the formula, the wear, nothing has let me down about this blush.  I find myself reaching for it above all others since I purchased it.  This is my only Rouge Bunny Rouge blush and I don’t think it will be the case for long.

This is one of the blushes that I like to layer as well.  Only difference between this and Luster is that this is the shade that is my focal point.  Where Luster lies in the background Lotus Pink is in the center/forefront of whatever gradient I am creating.  It is such a flattering, beautiful shade.  You can absolutely wear it all by itself but with a beautiful shade like Lotus Pink why not let it build off of other great blushes?

This was one of my first high end blush colors to ever own.   I seriously love this shade of pink with hints of peach.  I am not a fan or Orgasm by NARS.  Didn’t flatter me at all but Deep Throat, it’s more sophisticated subdued family member really works for me.  The name choices for the brand are a lot to be desired but I do really like every other aspect of the line.

As soon as this baby hit the shelf, Laura was there buying it up.  I had another shade of this as well but I found athat I enjoyed this one way more than the other–probably because there is a total trend rolling with the blushes that I purchase.  They are all different but very very similar.  They all tend to follow that uber-thin line of coral-peach-pink.  This blush is one that can rival higher end brands hands down.  Great quality and I find that I am happier that I own it.  ;)

L to R: BECCA Watermelon Beach Tint, Physicians Formula Happy Booster in Natural, Milani Mai Tai, Sleek Santorini, NARS Deep Throat, NARS Luster, Laura Mercier Lotus Pink, Rouge Bunny Rouge, Sephora + Pantone Coral, Sephora + Pantone Desert Rose, Sephora + Pantone Coral and Desert Rose mixed, Chanel Tumulte

Outside; no flash.

Same order on these swatches

Indoor; flash.

And I had to leave my hand in the indoor swatches because I was soo utterly entranced by the nail polish.  :))))  I am LOOOOVING the Layla Hologram Effects polishes.  This one is 04 Ultra Violet.  Isn’t it gorgeous.  The previous post was done with my iPhone but here is a fantastic shot (impromptu) I got of it.  It was of course taken indoors with flash.  I am amazed at how nice it actually looks.  YAY!

Soooo…. What were the blushes that you loved the most these past few months and what blushes are you possibly transitioning to this Summer?  I find all my Spring and Summer blushes to typically be the same.  And to be completely honest….. I tend to wear these a lot in the winter too.  I am not one to follow “seasonal makeup” rules.  I feel like I can pull off any color any time of year.  I just like to wear brighter colors on my cheeks when I have a darker skin tone.

Chanel Summer 2012

I was strolling through the mall on my lunch break days ago (more like escaping reality intentionally to buy a pick me up) and I made a visit to the Chanel counter to check out the Limited Edition goodies. Truth be told I was really at the mall to pick up the Geurlain Pucci balls, but the store hadn’t gotten them in yet.

Anyway, the only thing that I had interest in checking out were the bronzers but after seeing them I had no interest. The eyeshadow duo (37 Sable-Emouvant) seems completely boring but the pigmentation is completely out of this world. I felt the need to get them. Couldn’t leave them behind.
I also picked up my very first Chanel nail polish. I got the one called Delight. I adore it. It is really shiny and pretty and called me very seductively.
Anyway, what was it that interests you most out of the Chanel Summer 2012 collection??? Let me know in the comments below!

Chanel Inimitable Intense

Wow! I decided to try this sample mascara yesterday that I was given with one of my purchases at a Chanel counter. I cannot tell you how impressed I am. I used it again today and snapped a picture for you all!! I do have decent length lashes already but this totally pulled them out a little longer.
This mascara does a great job at adding length and it still manages to also volumize and separate. The picture below is just one coat. Amazing, right? I know this is just a sample size that I own but I adore it!!!
Please excuse the fact that it is a horrible picture of not only my skin but my eyeshadow but this was actually taken at 5pm this afternoon after being worn an entire day.  :)  I just wanted to show you how great it made my lashes look–so ignore everything else! LOL

March 2012 Favorites and FOTD

Hello!  It is that time of the month again… a few days late really but today was the first pretty day that I could go outside and take some decent pictures.  I have LOTS of favorites this month.  I got into a grove and never came out of it for the entire month of March.

The products range from skincare…

… to nail polish and brushes…

… to color products.  Something for everyone… and look… in the Chanel compact above you can see my reflection.  LOL
A new purchase this month was Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in 70 Tumulte.  It is beautiful.  I was browsing around the Chanel counter looking for something completely different and my eyes saw this and I knew immediately that it had to be mine.  It is a beautiful cool toned, soft pink color.  It is perfect… I have read other reviews that say that this color is light but on me it really shows up on my skin.

Guerlain Meteorites in Teint Beige have been a go to for me ever since I got them to be perfectly honest.  After applying my foundation and concealer I then apply bronzer and blush.  My last step is to apply this anywhere else on my face that I did not apply one of the other powdered products.  It leaves my skin luminous but not shiny or sparkly.   It is really turning into a HG product for me.  And the smell is divine!

I have been really into my nails this last month or so and filing has become a major necessity.  I won this Mont Bleu Swarovski encrusted nail file in a giveaway from Moxie Reviews.  I honestly held off on using it too much for a while because it is gorgeous but I eventually broke it out and started using the heck of it!

Skincare has also taken center stage for me this month.  I have found some products that I cannot say enough good things about.
Dr. Denese HydroShield Eye Fix Upper Eye Lid Care has been my go to eye cream for the past few months now and I never remember to include it.  It adds moisture but is never greasy.  I can apply it and go right into doing my makeup and never have to worry.
Elemis Visible Brilliance is a serum/moisturizer I have been using right after I tone my skin (day and night).  I loooove it.  It sinks right in and just like the eye cream previously mentioned I can go right into makeup application and not have to worry that I haven’t waited long enough.  Just enough moisture without making my face look wet.

Right after I apply my skincare I have been putting on a layer of Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector in Champagne Shimmer.  It adds luminosity without having a sparkle factor… I apply my foundation in a thin layer right over that and it is perfection.
Another thing that really enhances my complexion is a nice tan.  I haven’t actually been laying in the sun or a tanning bed and haven’t in years but I have been LOVING the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads. They are like a vacation in a wipe.  When I used my first one of the season EVERYONE I work closely with asked me if I had been on vacation because I looked sunkissed.  They couldn’t believe that it was self tanning because it was not streaky and looked extremely natural.

A brush that has been my favorite all month is my MAC 134.  It is what I use to apply my bronzer.  I picked it up at a CCO a while back and I am so glad I did… It is everything I want in a bronzer brush.  It is densely packed, has a nice shape, distributes the product evenly and buffs it right into the skin for a natural finish.  And if you look closely at the end of the brush you can see that FRANCE is engraved right into the handle.

Ahhh… the polishes I have adored for the last 30 days are OPI Fly and Julep Neicy and Penelope.  I only received the two Julep shades toward the end of the month but they were instant favorites because I have been looking for colors similar to them for a while.  I wore them both immediately.  <3 YAY

Another product that I absolutely adored this month was the Kiss Nail Dress.  Each box has enough stickers to do an entire manicure and pedicure.  I did a pedicure with this set last night and it looks AMAZING!  My toes got lots of attention in some open toed heels at work today.  :)  I received this specific pack from

A couple items from MAC are the TenderTone in Hush, Hush and two eyeshadows called Shore Leave and Mystery.
Hush, Hush tendertone is beautiful.  It has the most beautiful irridescent sparkles in a champagney-peach base.  It applies very sheer but it still gives a glow that is unmatched!
Shore Leave eyeshadow has long been discontinued and is extremely comparable to Phloof! (also by MAC) but I like the formula of Shore Leave more.  It is a beautiful pinky beige and I use it a lot for a inner corner highlight.
Mystery is my go-to brow powder when I am not using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Express kit.  It matches the color of my eyebrows perfectly and I never have to worry about it looking orange/too warm.

For mascara I have been trying out the Prestige My Blackest Lashes.  I have been dying to try it for a long time because of all the rave reviews it has received but it was never available in my local Ulta until recently.  I picked up a tube and at first it was a disaster.  All my lashes clumped together and it gave next to no volume.  Not that I have learned to manage the brush and the formula I can build up pretty long lashes that seem fluttery.  :) WIN!

Last up is my Unii palette.  It is housing my most used MAC neutral eyeshadows but I love it for many reasons.  Mainly the ginormous mirror.  It comes in handy for when I am doing my makeup in tutorials and also if I am cramped for time and I am in odd places in my house.  :)

So with all the makeup talk I decided to use all of these products in a Face Of The Day and here it is.  Sorry my hair is a mess but I was trying to get these pictures together to post ASAP.

Clarins Instant Light in Champagne Shimmer
Giorgio Armani Face Fabric mixed w/ Cho Bo Yang BB Cream
NARS Laguna
Chanel Tumulte
Guerlain Meteorites in Teint Beige

NARS Best palette – both All About Eve shades and Bali
MAC Shore Leave as inner corner highlight
Essence gel liner in Midnight in Paris
Prestige My Blackest Lashes
Mac Mystery on brows

Mac tender tone Hush, Hush

Chanel Illusoin D’Ombre in 82 Emerveille

Hello, I posted recently about purchasing Emerveille from Chanel in a haul post.  I have been itching to wear this and photograph if for days now but I wanted to wait until there was a pretty sunny day to take pictures of it to share with you first!  It was quite hard but I did manage to restrain myself.
I posted a review on these previously but the texture of these is amazing.  A bouncy cream/gel/mousse hybrid.  It applies just like your typical cream eyeshadow though.  I love the push-back these have to them though.  And the refined, sophisticated shimmer is amazing.

Emerveille is a beautiful peach color.  It can really add brightness to the eye without being a stark white shade.

I really tried to build the swatch up on my finger but the formula doesn’t really allow for that.  This was with several passes over the top of the eyeshadow.

You get .14 oz of product… and even though the number seems tiny there is sooo much product in this that I don’t think it should ever be a reason to worry.

I have had several requests to do comparison swatches for this eye shadow.  I don’t know if it is because people don’t want to fork over the $36+tax to get it because they don’t think that it is unique or what have you, but I really love it.  I can see myself getting a LOT of use out if this.
The shades I chose to compare it to are both, by coincidence only, from the L’Oreal Infallible line.
On the left is Iced Latte and on the right is Amber Rush.

Iced Latte is more on the bright champagne side where Amber Rush seems to lean a bit orange/copper.  You can see that Emerveille (in the middle) seems to be a mixture of the two.  More of a true peach tone.  I would also like to mention that the shimmer is much more refined and wearable.  The reflective, metallic look of the L’Oreal shades are kind of abrasive and over-the-top at times.  I am not knocking the Infallible eye shadows at all because I, for one, like that look at times–what I am saying is that more people will enjoy the appearance of the Chanel Emerveille.

This next picture are the same exact swatches taken with a flash.  I couldn’t get the camera to focus well with the flash (probably because of the highly reflective Infallible shades) but you can still see the color difference and shimmer.

Thank you for taking the time to come over and read.  As always, I appreciate all of your comments and requests.  Most of what I post here has come as a request from one or many of you and other posts are often inspired by something I read in the comments.  Soooo…. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
