Every time Mother’s Day rolls around I get nostalgic and pull up old photos. Sometimes it is pictures of my childhood and my mom, other times it is of my kids, most of the time it is both. It is good to look back through your memories and keepsakes and appreciate the beautiful things in your life. The most beautiful thing in my life is my family. It is easy to take your family for granted but when you live across the country from the people you love the most, it really makes you appreciate the times you had together. That is why I have partnered with Garnier® to talk to you about the beauty of Mother’s Day. Since having my own children, my perspective on Mother’s Day has changed a little bit. I used to think of it as a day to honor my mother and appreciate all the little things she has done for my sisters and I, but now I think of it as a day to truly enjoy my kids as well. After all, they are the ones who made me a mother. The special moments aren’t the ones where they are getting awards or performing on a stage. It is when I am spending a little bonding time together with them. Playing games with them and tickling them are my favorite and most beautiful moments. I once read a quote that really spoke to me: “Making the decision to have a child — it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” — Elizabeth Stone
Seriously, is it not the truth? When I had my son that is exactly the way I felt. When I had my daughter it is like I had two hearts walking around outside of my body. It is scary, thrilling, exciting, but most importantly it is beautiful. The beauty of Mother’s Day simply lies in the connections we have with our families and I am so thankful that Garnier® Whole Blends™ has reminded me to take a moment for myself, step up my beauty game, and create more beautiful photos with my family for my kids to look back on when they are older.
Now for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card, how will you spend your Mother’s Day this year?
