Have you ever wanted a the look of a blow out, but really didn’t have the time? I am going to show you how to get that bouncy, flippy, voluminous hair AND cut the time you spend in your morning routine in half. You will only need a few things: A set of hot rollers, Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Shampoo & Conditioner and the Dove Pure Care Dry Oil African Macadamia Oil treatment. The brilliant part is that while your hair is up in the rollers, your hands are free to do whatever else you need to do. You could put your makeup on, read a book, climb in bed for a few more minutes, or ANYTHING your pretty little heart desires.
Hot rolling your hair is a really simple task, but there are strategies to help make it the best that it can be. I personally like having a less defined curl with lots of volume on the bottom layers, so I use the larger ones there. I use the smaller (medium size) rollers around the crown of my head so that I can have flippy, bouncy curls that flow over the bottom layer. Keep that in mind and the rest should make a lot of sense.
On with the tutorial.
{one} Separate your hair into sections. I personally just clip up all of the hair I am not currently working with and them pulling what I need as I go.
{two} Split the bottom section into two parts and wrap your hair around the larger rollers. Do the same with the second layer. At the end of this step you will have 4 rollers in.
{three} Take the top section of hair (the crown) and split it into three sections. Clip the center section back up so it doesn’t get mixed in with the outer sections.
{four} Take the smaller (medium sized) rollers and wrap your hair around them.
{five} Split the last section of hair into two parts: front and back.
{six} In the back section of the hair, hold the hair straight up to add lots of volume. Wrap the hair around the roller and go in a backwards motion so that the hair will curl under.
{seven} Take the front section of hair and hold the hair at an upwards angle to create some volume. Wrap the hair around the roller in a forward roll.
{eight} Leave the hot rollers in for 15-20 minutes, well after they have completely cooled. Allowing the curlers to sit in the hair after the heat is completely gone will help set the curl to ensure the style will last longer. Remove.
{nine} Run your fingers through your hair to smooth it out. I don’t recommend brushing it because you can immediately loose some of the individual curls/flips and cause more static.
{ten} Hot rollers do create some static, so take just a dab of the Dove Pure Care Dry Oil African Macadamia treatment and apply to the areas you are experiencing the static.
OPTIONAL: To help hold the curl I recommend spraying your hair with a light weight flexible hold hairspray.
In case you want to see me do all of these steps with your own eyes for clarification of any questions you may have, go ahead and watch the tutorial I filmed. If you have any questions please address them in the comments here or on the video.
As I mentioned in the video, the key to a fake blow out is going to be the appearance of the hair. You are going to want silky, flowy, bouncy hair to make this a believable blow out. I have been loving the Pure Care Dry Oil line because it adds vibrance and silky softness without adding in a greasy feeling. It is proven to make your hair 5x silkier hair when using the system of shampoo, conditioner and treatment vs. non-conditioning shampoo. It is also really lightweight and absorbs quickly, so my hair can actually be styled into a voluminous look without falling in minutes! WIN!
I can honestly say that this line is suitable for all hair types, because my oily scalp usually can’t handle an overly moisturizing collection but has no problem with these products. The oils in this cleanses the hair and leaves it so smooth and silky that I would expect it to be a salon brand. Good news is that you can find it at any of your mass, food and drug retailers nationwide. Inexpensive is always a plus.
I think my favorite product of these three is the African Macadmia Oil treatment. It is a blend of macadamia and coconut oils! I love putting oils in my hair because of the benefits but usually it just ads to my oily-hot-mess after a couple hours. This Dry Oil adds the shine without adding the weight. It also smells fresh and clean.
Women crave beautiful, silky hair but don’t want it weighed down by heavy products that claim to nourish and add shine. Right now Dove is daring you to try Dove Pure Care Dry Oil and fall in love with the touch and feel of your hair or your money back*! They also want you to share you smooth, silky hair via social media using the hashtag #silkyhairdare. They also invite you to share your silky results at #silkyhairdaresweeps for a chance to win** $20,000 in prizes up for grabs! Find out more information about that on Dove.com.
