The Shu Uemura The Lightbulb Fluid Foundation made a huge impact on the makeup world when it first launched. For the first time beauty-lovers could get great coverage and a beautiful glow all while it feeling wonderfully comfortable on the skin. In the past I have never been able to find a product that offers all of that together. I have always purchased liquid illuminizers and added them too my favorite full-coverage foundations to try to custom-create something. Those are now days of the past.
“Stemming from shu uemura’s expertise in oleo technology, multi-glow oil complex and buildable oil complex signal a new way forward for natural glow yet with high coverage. Includes a revolutionary sponge, “the lightbulb”, designed and shaped for tapping and creating a glowing finish.” – Shu Uemura
A lot of the time when a foundation promises full coverage it feels thick and heavy on the skin. It drives me crazy to feel makeup on my face. It may sound weird for me to say that because by the time I get a full face on there is quite a bit of makeup on my face BUT I work in thin layers typically because I personally prefer a “natural beauty” sort of look. I want to look like I put forth effort but I don’t want to look like a clown. The lightness of this foundation makes me feel like I have nothing at all on! SCORE!
Now let’s speak to the dewy factor. I want to look fresh and dewy because that translates into youth. I am no longer a 20-something or even 30 for that matter, as of March I OFFICIALLY became a 30-something *ahem 31*. I see more wrinkles and my skin is developing dry patches—both signs of aging. It kinda has me freaking out. I want to keep that fresh, young look. I also do have combo/oily skin along my t-zone and cheeks so I have to be careful about applying products that will leave me looking oily. Shu Uemura The Lightbulb Foundation gives me the most natural glow that I have ever achieved by far. You can see from the picture below that my skin looks radiant and almost ethereal. So natural, though…
Now that I have you drooling over the foundation, let me tell you about the sponge. You all may know that I am a FREAK over my Beauty Blender. I use it all the time and I absolutely love it. I have mentioned before that nothing will ever take its place. Wellllllll…. The Lightbulb Sponge just may have done it…
“Side A (the wide side) is a glow enhancer. Use a tapping motion to spread the foundation around your t-zone, cheeks and neck. Side B (the pointed side) is a glow controller. Lay the sponge and adjust the glow to control the radiance.” – Shu Uemura
In my last video you may have seen me using it. I first apply the foundation onto the skin with my fingers and then I blend it out using the sponge. I go about this way because I prefer to dispense the product onto my fingers because I love the control I have when smoothing it onto my face… it also doesn’t make waste of product. The sponge does a great job of pressing it into the skin and making my complexion stunning.
Shu Uemura The Lightbulb Foundation and Sponge are my absolute favorite foundation of the moment. Anything that tries to come along and take its place has some pretty tough competition.
What is your favorite foundation and why? Do you like full coverage and a glow but struggle to get it from the same product?
