Sally Hansen Peptide Lip Smoother

Sally Hansen Peptide Lip Smoother is skincare for the lips.
The Peptide Lip Smoother is a breakthrough lip treatment that instantly moisturizes and renews the lips.   It claims moisturize the lips by 128%!

Helps visibly improve the look of lip lines and creases
Instantly moisturizes and conditions lips
Multivitamin complex is known to enhance collagen
This lip treatment is in a squeeze tube, which makes for easy application.  The applicator on the squeeze tube is slanted, which makes it easy to place on the lips.
The product itself is odd in consistency.  It is like a thin lotion, which makes sense due to the fact that it IS skincare for the lips.  It does NOT taste good at all.  Don’t accidentally lick it off your lips!  I also feel small little bits inside of it, I want to say it has a gritty texture but it isn’t really gritty so much as you can feel a few bumpy pieces in the treatment.
It is meant to be used all over the lips and around the mouth as well.  It smooths out lines and wrinkles on the lips.  The picture below was taken about 20 minutes after application.  My lips typically have a good amount of lines and, as you can see, they look really smooth!

Sally Hansen Peptide Lip Smoother is an interesting new product!  I am happy to have discovered it!  I honestly feel that it gives me the results it claims! If you are wanting to correct lines and creases on and around the lips, this could be the exact product you have been waiting for!  If you decide to try it out let me know how you feel about it in the comments below!

Review: Sally Hansen Lip Primer

Sometimes in the colder months I notice that my lips can chap and appear flaky after applying lip products.  I also notice that the color I apply doesn’t last as long as it should on my less than perfectly moisturized lips.  If you suffer from the same things I have good news!  Sally Hansen came up with a product that will help you in your struggles, and it is called the Plumping Lip Primer.
The Plumping Lip Primer looks a lot like a chapstick due to it’s twist up tube, but it is far more complex than that!  It is an invisible primer that plumps the lips, smooths out lines, as well as keeps your lipstick or gloss lasting longer.

Collagen microspheres add volume and shape to lips while filling in lines
Lips are noticeably fuller and more shapely
Helps prevent feathering and bleeding

It feels nice and cool on the lips do the the properties of the plumping agent.  It tastes nice; slightly sweet.  It actually looks quite nice on it’s own.  Not highly glossy but gives off a nice healthy look.
I give Sally Hansen Plumping Lip Primer a 4.5 out of 5 stars.  I only knock half a point off because I have seen a better plumping result with other products.  It does plump the lips and does other jobs too.  I still think it is great and I love the concept!!

The Beauty Blogazons Roundup for January 27

Urban Decay Oz The Great and Powerful: Glinda and Theodora

Have you seen these great new Urban Decay palettes?  Oz The Great and Powerful is a Disney movie coming out very soon and Urban Decay is asking, “Which witch are you?”  There is a Glinda and Theodora palette.
The color palettes for the two witches are very interesting and very specific.  Theodora is played by Mila Kunis in the movie, where Glinda is played by Michelle Williams.  You can see how the palettes compliment them very well.

The Glinda palette is very pastel, neutral, shimmery, pretty… lots of adjectives I can go on with.  The lip product included is also a very wearable, very beautiful pink.

Theodora is a very smoky, neutral, and dark palette.  Of course with two beautiful greens.  The lip product is a very striking red.
So, “Which witch are you?”  I think I am more of a Glinda.

Sunday Extra: Pink Peacock iPhone Case

A few days ago I was craving a blingy new iPhone case.  There was an accessory sale at my local Dillard’s so I took advantage.  This one called my name.  It was pink, blingy-licious, and had a gorgeous peacock on it.
This case was originally $60 or something crazy like that (and I would never pay that much) but it was marked down to a little over $20 which is my standard price for a cover.  Turns out it isn’t only pretty, but also very functional.  I find that the peacock actually added a decent amount of grip to the phone itself.
I don’t know if all stores will carry these, nor do I remember what the brand was…  If you have a Dillard’s nearby then get in there and see what there is left.  The display was extremely picked over by the time I got to it!

What have you done lately to beautify your phone?

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colors: Orchid and Sugar Frost

Eyes are a focus this season and I want to share with swatches of the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colors in Orchid and Sugar Frost.
Inspired by Laura Mercier’s cult classic Caviar Eye Liner, Caviar Stick Eye Colour offers a new technique to enhance the smoky eye look. In a range of eight beautiful shades, this creamy formula provides endless options for a flawless smoky eye. Each convenient stick is long-wearing, transfer- and crease-resistant. The colour glides onto lids and blends easily with a rich colour payoff.

I have used lots of shadow sticks over the last few years and I like them all but what I find different about this one is: (a) it glides on evenly over he lid, (b) stays blendable for enough time to fade out the edges, and (c) once it is dry it STAYS!  It seems like all of the other stick cream eye shadow products do crease over time and these absolutely don’t.  In fact, I find I have to let my eye makeup remover sit on my eye a bit longer to break up the makeup.
Because of the great staying power I sometimes smudge these along the lash line.  It makes for a simple, elegant look.
The other day I wore the shade Orchid on my lid and added a matte mauve shade in my crease and I had more than 10 people ask me what was on my lid–it is truly a stunner.
Another look that I love doing with Sugar Frost is applying it all over the lid and with my ring finger blending/fading the edges, then adding the Laura Mercier Creme Eye Liner in a sharp cat eye wing and lots of mascara.  Another simple look, but the Caviar Sticks are so pretty they don’t need to be a base for another color.  They are definitely the star of the show.

In the swatches below Sugar Frost is on the left and Orchid is on the right.
Sugar Frost is a gorgeous champagne, white gold shade.
Orchid is lilac/lavender/pink.  On my lids it reads more purple but the pink undertones are definitely there.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colors are so impressive that I wish I had more adjectives in my arsenal that are more fitting.  I hope that my photos speak for themselves, but I know that you would be even more impressed with these in person.  Two thumbs way up and 5 out of 5 stars.  Caviar Sticks trump all other eye shadow sticks in my opinion and I don’t think I will ever look back.

Laura Mercier Creme Eye Liner: Indigo and Espresso

I am an eyeliner fanatic.  I can’t tell you how many liners I actually have in my stash… Most are probably unopened back ups.  It is the one thing that I always feel the need to have more and more of… I recently discovered the Laura Mercier Creme Eye Liners and I have the shades Indigo and Espresso to show!

An ultra-smooth, water-proof creamy eye liner that applies with the ease and smooth silky finish of a gel and the precision of a liquid liner. Smudge and transfer-resistant, this long-wearing formula goes on “foolproof” with the Laura Mercier Angled Eye Liner Brush.”

The packaging is all very classic of Laura Mercier.  The outer packaging is in the flat grey/beige boxing and the product itself is in glass pots with the pretty purple/brown lids.

When I think of the perfect creme/gel liner, I think of: great saturation of color, smooth texture, and longevity of wear.  The creme eye liner from Laura Mercier is all of those things.  It is nice and smooth in texture and allows for plenty of “play time” so you can perfect the look that you are going for before it dries down into it’s waterproof finish.

As you can see from the finger swatches, WOW!  That is one swirl of my sanitized finger in the pot.  AWESOME pigmentation.  It delivers immediate color impact and intensity.  It is smudge-proof, transfer-proof, and crease-proof as well.

And it dries down perfectly into a semi-matte, non-oily finish with full-coverage color.  It seems that these are great liners but could easily double for great creme eyeshadows.

Laura Mercier Creme Eye Liners retail for $22 each for .12 oz of product.  I give these liners 10 out of 5 stars.  I filmed a video using the blue liner this morning, so be on the lookout for that soon.
Have you ever tried any of Laura Mercier’s line of eye products?  This spring is going to be all about the eyes, so definitely try some!

New York Color Cosmetics Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm

I am a big, BIG fan of lip balms so this post is exciting for me to share.  New York Color Cosmetics (or NYC, for the more common name) just came out with the Applelicious Glossy Lip Balms.  There are 10 shades and I have 3 to show you today.
I love a multi-tasking product and these adorable lip balms are not only moisturizing but they pack in really nice color and shine.

The Applelicious balms also have an adorable apple-core where all of the moisturizing benefits are located.  They also have a soft apple scent and a lightly sweet flavor.  The tubes feather a swivel up design to reveal more and more product as you would need it.

The three shades I have to show you are, L to R: Applelicious Pink 335, Chocolate Apple 352, Delicious Golden 350.

Can you see the brilliant color pay-off.  This balm looks a lot like a very pigmented lipgloss.  And the names are perfectly picked.  Applelicious Pink looks like a reddened pink, Chocolate Apple looks nice and rich brown, Delicious Golden has a gorgeous champagne sheen.

New York Color Cosmetics Applelicious Lip Balms retail for $2.99.  To be quite honest, the brand could charge much more for these and I would still purchase them.  I didn’t expect too much when I first laid eyes on them, but after trying them I am in love.  They are soo smooth when applying, awesome color pay off, high in shine, and they make my lips feel soft and hydrated.  All categories I want in lip products and I am surprised they are all in the same product!
What have you tried lately that has far exceeded your expectations?

Top 12 of 2012

The “Top 12 of 2012” tag has been going around… or maybe I should say that it already went around but I never got around to it UNTIL NOW!  This tag is rounding up my favorite beauty products of 2012.  I knew what I wanted to have in my top favorites, I just never had the time to sit and post them.  I am currently watching Once Upon a Time while veg-ing out on my bed so I decided to snap pics where I sit.
I am not grouping these favorites in any particular order, but I am clustering them together with similar products.  First up are actual makeup items.

Shu Uemura Stage Performer is an amazing product.  I use it as a primer for my foundation.  It adds a beautiful glow to your skin.  I am oily and I am mostly afraid of looking oily… I can say that this gives me a healthy skin glow, not one that looks greasy.
A go-to palette for me all year has been from Bare Minerals called The Truth.  I have had this for a long time now and reviewed it for you hear already.  It was one of the first READY products I used from the brand.  Since I have started working at Bare Minerals it gets a good bit more use than even before.  It is a palette that I sell to lots of my customers.  Just about every time I wear it to work I have a customer ask me excitedly what is on my eyes.
My favorite mascara of the year (maybe of all time) is by It Cosmetics and it is called Hello Lashes!  I have also reviewed this before here on my blog.  It is a great mascara and it makes my lashes look twice as long as they are on their on… It may even be three times as long…  I love it.  Sad that this one is empty.  It has had much love though.

A surprise product that stands out for me this year is from La Vanilla called The Healthy Deodorant.  It smells nice and it really does help keep me from having a smell due to perspiring.  A more important tid-bit is that it is aluminum free.  I learned 10+ years ago that aluminum can cause Alzheimer’s and it frankly freaks me out.  Aluminum is an ingredient in most deodorants and seems super unnecessary.  I tried a few all natural deodorants but never liked any of them until this one.  This one is in the scent Pure Vanilla.  My preferred scent is Vanilla Coconut.

Some hair products that I loved in 2012 are definitely my go-to’s for their specific categories.
Salon Grafix Invisible Dry Spray Shampoo is the best; let me say that again… THE B E S T dry shampoo I have ever used.  I have tried every dry shampoo I could get my hands on and was always disappointed.  None of them did what I expected them to do.  The Salon Grafix one is amazing and actually makes my oily hair look as though it has been freshly cleansed.
Redken Radiant Sea Spray was my favorite spray during the summer months.  I did a lot of tousled hair styles during the summer and this was the key to making it look great.  It has a beautiful fresh sea spray scent and it is sort of tacky and quite perfect for looking like your hair air dried after a dip in the ocean.
All year round, every time I cleanse my hair I use It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product.  It smells great and it leaves my hair more healthy and shiny each time I use it.  I cannot tell you which bottle this is because I do not know.  I have been using this product for about 4 years and I always buy the big bottle.  I don’t for-see anything taking it’s place.

For my skincare products I have a couple of cleansers and a couple of moisturizing products.
Bare Minerals Naturally Luminous Purifying Facial Cleanser is am awesome cleanser.  It feels great on the skin: it cleanses without stripping the skin of natural oils that belong there.  It also takes off all my makeup.  I used to use two different cleansers in my shower and with this product I don’t find that necessary anymore.
Reviva Labs Firming Eye Serum has been a favorite product since the day I received it.  It feels great on my eye and I feel like it makes that part of my face look younger.  I am in the last year of my 20s and my skin is no longer at it’s peak.  Everything is starting to head downhill and I feel like staying on top my skin is really going to help me over the years to come.
Tatcha Deep Brightening Serum has been a godsend.  This product is now empty and I am about to purchase my second full sized bottle.  I had a half sized amount first but as soon as I finished it I started on this full sized bottle.  Now that I am out I am so sad.  My skin has never looked better using other serums or moisturizers.  I can see that it has fade my dark spots or discoloration due to break outs.. and in fact I feel like it doesn’t irritate my skin and my breakouts are fewer and farther between.
Another great product from Tatcha is the One Step Camelia Cleansing Oil.  This is the 2nd full size I have purchased it it.  I feel like it has played a part in making my skin look amazing.  I typically use this in the evening.  I take a couple pumps into my hands and massage it all over my face and it dissolves all of my makeup right off and even takes every trace of mascara off.  It is the best oil cleanser I have ever used.

Shiseido Facial Cotton is far superior to other facial cottons.  I can use one of these cotton squares and it do everything I need it too… with other brands I would need 2-4 of and probably still not have everything done that I need.  It seems silly to go on and on about Shiseido Facial Cotton but when something is so superior to others, it is hard not to talk about it.

I am thankful to those of you that asked me what my favorite products of 2012 were.  I am sorry it took me so long to get to it.  Thank you for motivating me to do this post.
What were your favorite products of 2012?
