Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy

Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy has a cult following.  After a loooong time of hearing about this product I was forced (by myself) to get it.  I will admit that it took me months to figure it out (I know, I know... I am slow...) but I really feel that there is a learning curve with this product.  With this product, you either love it or you hate it.  The ones that hate it are using it incorrectly.

Using a tiny amount is the key to applying this product.  Dab the tiniest bit of product from the doe-foot applicator onto the lid-space and then rub it in with your finger.  Let it sit for about 30 seconds and then apply the eyeshadow over.  What I think most people do is apply a generous amount and then they are left with a clumpy, non-blendable, creasy mess.

And I would also like to mention that this is not meant as a primer for your eye.  You should always add whatever primer that works for you PRIOR to applying this product.  Pixie Epoxy is meant as glue for sparkles and glitter, also used to give you a foiled look without wetting the eyeshadow.

The picture above is a swatch of one of Fyrinnae's eyeshadows.  The left side is over Pixie Epoxy and the right is over nothing.  Big difference, huh?  The stuff is really amazing.  Brings the best to whatever eyeshadow you are wearing.  It retails in Full Size for $7 but you can also sample it for cheaper.

Tell me below if you have tried Pixie Epoxy or any of the other great Fyrinnae products.  If you have, what are your favorites?

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips

Yes, ANOTHER nail post! ;)  As you all know nail polish and nail care have started ranking pretty high on my beauty interests list.  I am happy to share with you the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips that I received from Influenster in my Spring Beauty VoxBox.  The one I received is called Animal Instinct.  These are totally not a design I would pick out for myself but I love exploring my "wild side" from time to time!

What you get in the pack: 16 Nail Polish Strips, Cuticle Stick, Mini File & Buffer.

These are NOT stickers like the appliques I have tried in the past.  These are actual nail polish that come in strips.  I know many people out there prefer the feel of polish versus a sticker.  This is very close to a result you would get from nail stamping--only easier!  The picture below was taken 2 days after the first picture.  As you can see there was no chipping, only wear around the cuticles.

Information provided by the brand:

"Don't Get Stuck With a Sticker!

Nothing feels or wears like real nail polish. Now Sally makes it easy to get Salon Effects anytime, any place using real nail polish – with no dry time! Don’t settle for plastic imitations that peel off. We’re the real thing. Just peel, apply & file! Learn more at www.sallyhansen.com

  • No dry time
  • Lasts up to 10 days
  • Removes easily with nail polish remover
  • 40 must-have styles"

Where To Buy:

Available at chain drug stores, food stores and mass merchandisers nationally.
Suggested Retail Price: $9.99, but I usually see them for a little less than that.

My thoughts:

I had a little trouble with application.  Mostly due to circumstances out of Sally Hansen's control! lol I have oddly shaped cuticles and it is hard to get a perfect fit for my cuticle.  The good think is that this is REAL polish so the way I fixed the Nail Polish Strips around the cuticle was go over the cuticle a big and correct it with the orange wood stick that is provided in the package.  I also clean up the sides of the nails with the stick too.

Other than my own issues everything else is a breeze.  You clean your nails: I use polish remover or alcohol to cleanse your nails of any oil or residue that could potentially be on the nail bed which could prevent the strips from adhering properly.  Then match the polish strip to the proper nail, peel the stickers/protective covers off of the strip and lay it down.  File the excess off of the ends and you are good to go (after you clean up the edges with the stick).  Simple 1, 2, 3 process and you look like you went out and spent lots of money on a salon manicure (or pedicure).

I found that these lasted a fair amount of days.  I ended up taking them off a little early due to the fact that I had an important client at work I needed to meet with so my "party animal" nails needed to be left for the weekend.  The good thing is that tehre are lots of different styles to chose from and some are very sensible, mature and wearable.

There is no drying time involved.  It says that you should add a top coat to it to extend the length of wear but I didn't do that and I had no problems with chipping.

My Newest Addiction Rating: ♥ (5 out of  5)
I think these are great for people that don't enjoy nail stickers.  These are just as easy as the stickers are to apply but they give the feel of real nail polish.  There are lots of prints to chose from, as well as solid colors.  I feel that this line has something for everyone.

Lovely Audrey Earrings from Jewelmint

I recently made my first purchase from Jewelmint and I am so excited about it that I was bursting at the seams to show you.  It should be arriving in the mail tomorrow but I had to go ahead and pop these pictures on the blog.

I am completely in awe of Audrey Hepburn and her timeless beauty.  Her fashion sense also calls out to me. I found out about the first Audrey earrings from Jewelmint (the clear stones--like diamonds) afterwere sold out.  I stalked the site for months and they never turned back up.  There were a few different pairs here and there but for whatever reason I missed those too.  They currently have the Lovely Audrey (pink) and the Darling Audrey (yellow).  I am a girly girl and love the color pink so you know it had to be the Lovely! :)

Speaking of LOVELY!  Look at that face.  She is magnificent.  I feel like the earrings really reflect her style and I am happy to say that I have a little piece of Audrey! :)  Do you own any Jewelmint pieces and if so, what are your favorites?  I thnk I may have just started a new addiction for myself.  ;)

Illamasqua Lipstick Swatches

I have never owned a single item from Illamasqua but a sweet friend of mine, LeeLeeBell, from MakeupAlley LOVES their lipstick line.  She recently posted the swatches of her favorites so I wanted to share them with you.

Information from the brand:

"Let your lips speak volumes with this color-intense lipstick. Indulge in this highly pigmented formula that's available in a choice of flawless finishes from matte to glossy. Illamasqua Lipstick glides on smoothly for the perfect pout that stays put all night."

What LeeLeeBell says:
"They are the smoothest, most long lasting mattes I own; honestly they are the best stains too. They last as long on my lips than most stains. They combine beautifully with Revlon Lip Butters too btw, if you're into adding some gloss to your mattes without gooping up the texture...

If I had to answer: The ones that are my least favorite of the bunch (because they are not as smooth) are Diablo and Fable. In general, the reds are my favorite. And Atomic :-D"

L-R: Diablo, Sangers, Drench (LeeLeeBell's HG red), Maneater, Salacious, Atomic, Welt, Brink, Scandal, Fable

I hope these swatches helped you chose a perfect color for yoruself.  Thanks for looking!  If you have something from the brand and love it, tell me below!  I feel like I need to pick something up!!! :)

Outfit Of The Day

Technically this is an outfit from a few days ago but it is the first one I have done so I thought I would post it.  I generally wear solid colors and pretty plain accessories.  In this particular outfit I am wearing a blue cotton dress that goes down to my feet.  and a peach colored cardigan (I was going to work and this dress has thin spaghetti straps).  For accessories I wore my Trollbeads bracelet and my Fossil watch.  I am also wearing my Lisa Taubes chain and simple sterling silver round ball studs that you cant see! :)  Hope you like this type of post.  If you would like to see more of these let me know!

Besame Eyeshadows: Plum Dandy and Pistachio

I recently purchased some beautiful eyeshadows from the gorgeous PlanetMartha's blog sale.  They came in the mail today and I am in LOOOOOVE!  I am sure you will see these many times in my FOTDs to come.  :)

Left is Pistachio (obviously) and right is Plum Dandy.  The colors are sooo saturated!  I fell in love at first sight.  These eyeshadows are the first from the brand and I am so happy that I did actually purchase them.  They are so much more than I hoped they would be.

The packaging is so beautiful and so reminiscent of vintage packaging, which is what the brand is indeed trying to replicate.

Info from the brand:
"Tempting eye shadows that contain fine milled pigments making them silky and effortless to apply, are available in a range of classic shades that are never out of style. Packaged in exclusively designed Bèsame signature embossed metal collectible case."

Look at these finger-tip swatches.  So lovely.  I didn't go in and swirl and swirl and swirl my finger in the product... this is the effect of just one swipe.

And again... the swatches transferred onto the back of my hand was just one swipe.  WOW.

Have you tried anything from Besame?  If so, what do I need to get next???  O_o  I am addicted.... and yes... this is "My Newest Addiction"!  haha

Kiss Nail Goodies

Recently I won a Brand Challenge on Influenster for the Love VoxBox for the Kiss Nail Dress blog post I wrote.  I can not explain to you enough how much I adore the Kiss Nail Dress line.  I was skeptical at first about putting a sticker on my hands and toes but let me just tell you-----they last for weeks!  Not days like nail polish.  No matter what brand of polish I wear I always get fading on the tips and chips all over in days. I had the Kiss stickers on for over a week and they looked perfect!  I was so thrilled that I decided to do a pedi with them.  There were enough stickers to do my fingers and my toes and I still had some left over.  Get this.... I had these stickers on my toes for over two weeks... maybe almost 3.  The day I took them off my toes they looked just as perfect as the day I put them on.  I am not kidding.

Here is the beautiful design I received as my prize.  I am super excited about it because it is going to look like I BeDazzled my nails! LOL  So pretty!  And the jewels really stand out on the black background.

I also received another item and this one I have never tried (or seen) before, which is Kiss Nail Artist.  They are metallic accents for your nails.... basically studs.  Studs are a huge trends for handbags, belts and other items like watches and bracelets right now, so why not extend that onto your nail beds?  :)  I am really excited about this.  Summer time is here and its time to break out the flip flops and do the craziest nail art possible.  Anything goes for nails in summer!

Thanks for stopping by to see my latest thoughts on this and that!  :)  Have you tried anything in the Kiss Nails line?  If so what was it and what did you think of it?  I am super impressed with everything I have tried thus far!

xoxo,

Laura
