Mia Mariu Mineral Blush in Corazon de Melon Review and Swatches

I am a blush hoarder and I am starting to branch out with the shades I have been wearing.  I recently have been on a melon/orange kick (probably due to it being the color of the year).  The Mia Mariu Mineral Blush in Corazon de Melon is such a pretty one!

The packaging is basic cardboard/cardstock type material.  The compact itself is nice and chic with simple black packaging with the branding being written in red.  It isn’t a glossy black plastic, it is pretty and matte.

There is a mirror on the inside of the compact, which is nice.  I do my makeup on the go ALL the time and I loooove products that have mirrors.  When I am packing a travel makeup bag I DO make sure that my products include mirrors, so needless to say–this blush has been in my bag for almost two weeks.

The label on the back shows all of the imformation that would make this one distinguishable from any others you may have from the brand.  The name, amount of product (2.6 grams) and where it was made.

And for the fun part… the swatches.  The swatch on the left is a heavy swipe and the swatch on the left is applied with the Sephora 55 Airbrush.  It is soooo gorgeous on the skin.  It gives off a satin finish and the color is amazing.  It really lifts my face and gives me a natural flush.  It has been perfect for the season and I am sure this shade is actually very nice all year long.  It is light at first, but can be built up with a heavier hand.

You can see in the swatches without flash (bottom picture) that the luminosity isn’t too much.  It is very subtle with no sparkle/glitter.  Such a gorgeous texture.

Mia Mariu Mineral Blushes retail for $17 at miamariu.com.  The shade Corazon de Melon is gorgeous and I would recommend to anyone.  Even though it has a warm undertone I think it would suit anyone because of it’s natural look.  Quite honestly, it is a nice 2 in 1 product for people that don’t enjoy wearing bronzer in the summer.  It is a pretty deeper tone blush that adds warmth to the face.  I give this product two thumbs up and a 5 out of 5.
What shade have you been wearing on your cheeks lately?  If you have a color family or even a specific product, tell me in the comments below.  Thank you!!

REVIEW: Josie Maran Argan Oil Hair Serum

Lately I have been obsessing over my hair.  It has gotten really long and healthy so I am more prone to play with it using heat styling and other variations of styling without the guilt.  Even though I am using heat and other styling techniques I am using all sorts of treatments and serums to help keep it long and healthy.  I have been LOVING the Josie Maran Argan Oil Hair Serum.

Josie Maran is known for her Argan Oil and a lot of people use her basic Argan Oil in their hair, which is okay for some people but I find it is too much for my thick head of fine hair.  She developed this hair serum because all of the same reasons I listed above: heat and styling, but also she had hair coloring quite a bit.  This hair serum is nice and silky (sort of like the text of CHI Silk Infusion).  It has an unprecedented amount of argan oil in the serum itself, so you are still getting all the benefits of her traditional oil but it is targeted specifically for the hair.
The Argan Oil Hair Serum provides frizz control  instant shine, and long-term rejuvenation.  It smells great, scented with geranium and bergamot fruit oils.  It is a nice light, never-greasy formula.  It sinks into the hair shaft to seal split ends and moisturize.  Not only does it do all of these great things, it is filled with an abundance of antioxidants, vitamin e, essential fatty acids, and of course argan oil.

I use this after I shower on towel dried hair.  I dispense 1-2 pumps into my hand and rub them together to warm up the product.  I bend and flip my hair over and start working the product into the hair starting at my ends and work my way up mid-way.  (My ends tend to split easily and I feel that this product has really helped with this.)  I avoid getting near my scalp because I have naturally oily hair and I don’t want to accentuate that.  I then style my hair as usual.
I will say that I love the pump on this product.  It is easy to use and has great control.  If you push the dispenser down halfway it gives you half the amount of a full pump.  I hope that makes sense.  The pumps that force you to take a whole pump of product really bother me because I hate to be wasteful so being able to get 1/4 or 1/2 of a regular pump really excites me.  The photo below displays the amount of product dispensed with a full pump.  My hair is fairly long and 2 full pumps is more than enough to get my entire head of hair.

The two pictures displayed below are ones I took after I started using this product.  I have shiny, healthy looking hair most of the time but in my opinion these photos jump out as being REALLY beautiful hair shots. I love that the shine created looks moisturized but not oily–which is exactly the effect I find the Josie Maran Argan Oil Hair Serum to provide.
The Josie Maran Argan Oil Hair Serum retails for $30 for 2 fl oz of product and can be found at josiemarancosmetics.com as well as anywhere else that Josie Maran products are sold.  It has an average price tag to other products similar on the market.  I think it is wonderful and I completely recommend this hair serum; it gets 5 out of 5 stars.  It makes me want to try more and more hair stuff from her line. like the Hot Oil Self-Heating Treatment or the Bohemian Waves Argan Hair Mist Texture Volume & Moisture.  I would love if she developed a set of shampoo and conditioner.  (hint, hint) lol
Thank you for reading this review.  I hope you found it helpful.  Let me know in the comments below about a miracle product you have found recently.  Whether it be for your hair, nails, face, skin, etc.  :)

Review: ghd Gold Professional 1″ Styler in Pink Cherry Blossom

I feel that being a woman means you are a jack of all trades.  You are responsible for a good bit  everything that takes place in your home: cooking, cleaning, bills, health & wellness, etc.  That also extends to knowing everything there is to know about grooming.  Some of us didn’t go to cosmetology school but as women are expected to keep ourselves well groomed and beautiful.  Maybe not by others, but I expect that from myself, can you agree?  Sometimes we need shortcuts in able to do ALL of the great things we do.  The GHD Gold Professional 1″ Styler is a wonderful tool that will have your hair looking fabulous in no time.  This is the limited edition Pink Cherry Blossom.

This fabulous Pink Cherry Blossom GHD comes with the styler itself and a wonderful heat resistant satin storage bag with beautiful pink floral embroidery details.  The bag is a great addition to the styler; if I am somewhere other than my house doing my hair I always feel uncomfortable putting the styler away in fear that I am going to have it touching something that will melt or burn.

This heat resistant bag is perfect because not only is it going to protect your other belongings, but it will actually protect the styler as well!  There is a flap in the middle that separates the hot plates from the plug-in cord.

The styler has shimmery pink plates that have rounded edges to keep from having the hair snag.  It also enables the hair to glide smoothly through the plates to create the exact style you are going for, whether that be curls, waves, or perfected pin-straight hair.  It has the same features and gives the same salon-style results as the Gold Professional 1″ Styler.
It heats up using advanced ceramic heater technology.  It only has one heat operates on, so the only controls it has is the on/off switch.  After turning this styler on it is ready before a minute has passed!!!  It has universal voltage and a 2.7m swivel cord for easy styling–no fighting with the cord to make it do what you need.
My FAVORITE feature of the styler is the sleep mode.  If you are at all like me, you may tend to forget to turn off your hot tools from time to time and don’t realize it until you are about half an hour away from your house and have no time to turn around.  With this styler, you can have peace of mind KNOWING it turned itself off when you forgot.

I give the ghd Pink Cherry Blossom 5 out of 5 stars.  I am so impressed and in love with this styler that I have already told a friend all about it and she ran out and got one immediately.  :)  It has made my mornings a little easier because my hair is ready in a snap!  You can see this styler in action by watching the review-torial I did on my YouTube channel.

Is there anything you have been using lately that has sped up your morning routine?  Let me know in the comments below!

Shaken Not Stirred FOTD

As soon as I got the Bare Minerals The Cocktail Hour palette the shade Shaken Not Stirred has been calling out to me.  As promised, I did a look using it to show you all.  I am very please with the way my first go with the beautiful navy shade turned out.

Please don’t make fun of my hair in the first few shots.  I was about to film a review/tutorial on a hair tool so I did my makeup first and had my hair all pinned up.  I was so excited with how the look turned out I was quick to snap pics and didn’t realize my hair wasn’t done.  :)

Everything I used on my eyes today was brand new to me.  I used a new mascara, eyeliner, and brow pencil.  The eyeshadow itself was one I have never used as well.  Fun times…

Finally I decided to do my hair so this is a shot with my hair done.  It sort of looks black/charcoal grey instead of a deep navy blue in this shot.

Either way, I love this eyeshadow.  It is gorgeous and not at all hard to work with.

Here is a closeup of the eye makeup.  I used Shaken Not Stirred all over the lid and into the crease.  I blended my crease with a light matte brown and highlighted my brow with a matte white.  I highlighted the inner corner with a shimmery champagne color.

My lip choice was a Laura Geller gloss called Skinny Dip.  It is a beautiful color to apply when you go for dramatic eyes.  Just a touch of honey/amber on the lips and slight shimmer.

Hope you liked the look I created.  I don’t typically go bold but decided it was something fun.  I loooooooove Bare Minerals Shaken Not Stirred.  First blue I have ever fallen completely head over heels in love with.  I love blue eyeshadow on others, I just always think it looks sort of crazy on me.  And dark navy shades are especially hard to work with because so many don’t blend very well.  This one is a dream!
What have you done lately that is out of the norm?  Navy blue eyeshadow is definitely mine.  Let me know in the comments below!!!

Thanksgiving 2012 Face Of The Day

I have been looking forward to Thanksgiving since the day I found out I was pregnant and became more ferociously hungry than a newborn vampire.  HAHA (WTF?  IDK why this strikes me as a valid, funny statement.  I am going to chock it up to pregnancy brains!)  Anyway.  I had very little time to get ready and I have been breaking out quite a bit lately so I spent the majority of my makeup time on my complexion.

Anyway, I went very simple on the eyes and lips.  I used all matte eyeshadows for an understated look and I really liked the way it turned out.

My hair is 2nd day curls touched up with some dry shampoo and another go with my Remington T-Studio Pearl Ceramic Curling Wand.  I was very pleased with my hair.  It stayed looking great all day.  I have never done second day hair a day in my life because it looks oily very fast but the curls helped disguise the high shine and the dry shampoo worked amazingly.

I used the Billion Dollar Brows pencil on my eyebrows and I looooved the way they turned out.  Very natural looking, but if you have ever seen me without my brows done you KNOW that these aren’t my brows.  haha

I had a tonnnn of pictures I snapped before running out the door and I couldn’t pick and choose which ones to include/toss so I just added them all.  Sorry for the abundance of pictures that look the same.

All of them seemed to catch different lighting and show another dimension of color.  I felt that it could be valuable for whoever is reading.  You may be interested in one of the products I used, and seeing the product in a few different lights may make you want it more or less.

I started getting silly toward the end and took a “crazy girl” shot.  :)  It was too funny to keep from you all.

And last but not least, a close up of my lip combination.

Sephora Black Friday 2012 $10 Deals

I never get out in the crowds on Black Friday but I always stalk sales online.  This year Sephora will have a lot of $10 deals.
Some are more interesting than others, but to be fair, there is something that everyone will want.  I see a few things myself.  :)  I may try and get out in the crowds for some of these…  Or shop online.  :)  Hope this helps you with some of your holiday shopping!
