I have less than 6 months until I turn 30 years old. I am already experiencing fine lines and wrinkles all while still dealing with breakouts (usually due to a monthly visitor) and I have been looking and searching for a way to help deal with that fact. Recently FutureDerm released their Time Release Retinol 0.5 and it sounded like the answer to my internal questions!
I had never considered a retinol treatment for my issue before but as I was hearing information on this product it set off a light bulb! Why had I not thought of using a retinol before? Needless to say, I was nervous. My skincare previous to trying this consisted of cleansing, toning and moisturizing... and maybe applying a mask or acne treatment once in a while. This is real "big-girl" skincare and I was curious as well as anxious.
Without any looking back I dove right in the first night it arrived. I followed the VERY detailed instructions that came with the product and woke up the next morning in shock that my skin hadn't burned or flaked or anything overnight! And honestly... my skin was excitingly under control the entire next day (meaning no super-excess-oil production or new break out)! SUCCESS was mine!
The instructions also mentioned that if you have sensitive skin or if you have never used a retinol before to spread out the usage at first. A couple days after my initial trial I did it again and still no bad reaction. I was then ready to move into using the product even other night...
Throughout the first two weeks (maybe a day or so more) I experienced one or two dry patches with a bit of peeling but nothing to write home about... I just cleansed my face and the extra skin came right off and voila! I am so excited that this product was so gentle. I have heard people share horror stories on their first experiences with retinol and that is probably why I was afraid to use it. Maybe the people I had heard talking about their bad experiences didn't follow directions or maybe it was the product they were using. Either way, with FutureDerm Time Release Retinol 0.5 Gel I experienced nothing but positive results. Maybe it was Nicki's personal touch in the application directions!!!
Now that my personal experience with this has been disclosed, let me get to the nitty-gritty.
The ingredients are all listed above so I am not going to repeat all of that in text, but I will mention that there are some key ingredients in this product to help it not shock your skin. It includes witch hazel, aloe, and the retinol itself is micro-encapsulated so it slowly releases into your skin over the span of a full 8 hours. Very gentle and mild. You may experience some redness or irritation but I would guess that it would be minimal. The only real side effect I had was that my face felt hot (sort of feverish) for the first couple of applications.
This product is a light-weight, opaque gel. Even though it looks like a cream it isn't; the gel formula actually allows the product to sink into the skin quickly--like 30 seconds quick! That is great because as soon as you are done applying the retinol product you can move right into the moisturizer you plan on putting over top this and go right to bed! :) The picture below actually shows the product itself and then 10 seconds after I rubbed it in. As you can see, there is no glossy, wet look because the product is completely sunk into the skin and getting to work.
All that being said, I can see results already. The lines around my mouth have reduced a bit and my forehead wrinkles (which is my biggest aggravation) appear less large. Because my skin cells are turning over more quickly my breakouts have mostly been kept at bay... The only spots that have popped up at all are completely tiny and are literally gone the next day.
FutureDerm Time Release Retinol 0.5 Gel retails for $54.95 on her Shopify page, but because this just launched she is having a sale and has generously marked it down to $39.95! If I didn't answer some of the questions you may have had, feel free to ask me below in the comments or just check out the link I posted above. She includes a GREAT DEAL of information on the product shop page. Also check out her Facebook page or Twitter! I am sure she would be able to address any concerns you might have!
