Review: Dior Rosy Tan 5 Couleurs Palette
I am a sucker for a pretty neutral palette. I own a few Dior 5 Couleurs palettes (quints) and I recently picked up a new addition to the bunch. Dior Rosy Tan (754) is a gorgeous grouping of shades.
I really enjoy the way they come packaged. The outer packaging is meh but I love that the palette has it's own pouch to protect the compact from scratches or blemishes. I do want to complain a little about it being a felt/velvety texture though... it attracts lint horribly.
The compact itself is beautiful, deep navy blue with a beautiful logo. The outlining in silver is also a very nice touch. One of my older quints doesn't have this silver outlining, and it makes it look a lot more luxe with the silver.
Now for the pretty! The colors in this are just gorgeous. The texture is very nice and smooth and they blend beautifully, I love the quilting pattern on these. Looks like a beautiful pillow of fabulosity.
Here are the swatches in direct sunlight. The one swatched long-ways is the center shade, which is a shimmery white-ish champagne. From L to R or bottom to top: A satin baby cool toned pink, a deeper, almost red-toned chocolate brown, a semi-shimmery taupe, and a more matte tan-brown.
The colors, even though they are natural/neutral colors really brighten up my eyes when I wear them. I had a hard time with this palette at first. Even though the colors are so wearable and nice, I couldn't make it look good on my eye for a lonnng time. Finally I switched around the placement of colors and found a nice look that worked.
I lay the taupe shade on the lid, darken up the outer v with the darker brown, blend my crease with the pink (which is what was really throwing me about the palette--not a color I would typically place in my crease) and highlighted my inner corner with the center shimmery shade. I like the bottom lash line with the tan-brown shade. When I started placing the colors down in that format it reallllly came together and I finally "got" the palette.
I love the fact that this palette pushed me into trying something new. I love palettes that really inspire me. I was trying to wear the palette, but finally succumbed into letting the palette wear me.
The swatches in the picture below aren't necessarily the best but I had to show you how pretty my pool and yard look in this picture. :) Really happy with how pretty the background is, not so much the swatches.
Do you have any Dior quints? If so, which one(s)? Let me know in the comments below. Do you own Rosy Tan? How do you wear it?
