GlossyBox August 2012

Over the weekend my GlossyBox US arrived on my door-step.  I have really become excited to see these boxes arrive, there is always something interesting in them that I have never tried.  I say on GlossyBox’s Instagram feed that they were going to be including a special product so it was only a matter of seconds before I was ripping the box open!

As usual, the packaging was gorgeous.  :)  It always is… so much attention to detail.
This month’s Glossy Mag was very eye-catching with the neon colors…  I have thumbed through it already and it shows editorial brights and some individual colors that can translate into the real world.

This box’s theme was all about “Pure Luxury”.  Basically, this box is focusing on really indulging your body in lots of technologically-advanced products.  Who doesn’t love the idea of that, right?

Right off the rip I see two products I have been dying to try and automatically swoon.

Flipping over the card I see that this box is going to be a great one.  There are two full-sized products that are valued at $49.  That is more than double the price of the box itself, so that is a major win!

This box includes:

Biolage ExquisiteOil Replenishing Treatment
Full Size $22 for 3.1 oz–The sample received in this box is worth $1.14 (if I did my math right).  Not really worth too much but definitely something I am interested in trying.  I love Biolage products and I absolutely love leave-in treatments/serums!

Ellis Faas Milky Lips L204
Full Size $35 0.095 oz–This product was full-sized so it’s retail value is fully represented in this box.  I received a color that isn’t really for me.  It may come in handy for Halloween though because it is a pumpkin orange color.  I will say that it’s formula and pigmentation is OUTSTANDING!  I wish I would have gotten a color that I actually would wear though.  I may try to do a gradient/ombre lip with it soon though.  How fun would it be to do a red lip and have the center of your pout be this pretty orange color… MMM… see, getting things you normally wouldn’t purchase on your own can definitely bring out your creativity.

On the left you see a swatch on the back of my hand and on the right you see a poorly lit lip swatch.

 Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Taint
Full Size $14 for .5 oz–This was also a full-sized product.  It is a chocolate brown with a rubbery looking finish.  Honestly the name is COMPLETELY awful but the color itself isn’t that bad.  I think it reminds me of a Hershey bar which makes my mind reel at possible nail art that could be done with it! :)  It’s finish is semi-matte so that stirs up ideas in my head as well.  Never-the-less it is a great dark nail color for the Fall, which is just around the corner!
Ole Henricksen Truth Serum
Full Size is $48 for 1 oz–This is a deluxe sample and it measures at .5 oz so the value represented in this box runs $24.  That is a generous sample and one I am glad to get!  I have used this before (and I still have the last bit left in my current bottle) and it is lovely.  I can vouch for it’s claims.  While I have this mixed into my skincare routine I use it morning and evening and I do notice a smoother complexion.

Touch in Sol Feel Like Honey Moon Skin Base
Full Size is $20 for 1.13 oz–This sample measures 1.06 so the value of this sample is $18.76.  I think it is funny that it is sooo close to being full-sized.  It would have been easier just to throw in the regular bottle.  I am not complaining though, you can hardly call that a sample size at all.  It is a two-in-one product–moisturizer and facial primer all in one.  This is the only product in the box that I have never heard of but it completely intrigues me to see something so innovative.  I am looking forward to trying this for sure.

Along with this month’s products you also receive a code for a free deluxe sample of the Truth Serum Advanced Hydration from the Ole Henriksen website.

This month’s GlossyBox was fantastic.  I am thrilled with the products that were in it and I encourage all of you to check it out.  I am sad that I missed out on the first real box that launched because it included a Burberry lipstick.  Don’t miss out on the great products sure to come in the next box.  If you sign up to be billed $21 for a Monthly Subscription, 3 month subscription is $60, and the more months you pay for up front the cheaper it is to you.  Go to and sign up today.  :)
Total value of August’s GlossyBox: $92.90

I got a peachy color polish in mine. Love it! I agree about the ellis. Love the product, but the color is something I will never wear alone. Im thinking i will blend it with some lip stains to get a more attractive, wearable color.
