Butter London Wallis

I just recently purchased a BUNCH of Butter London polishes and I am slowly but surely wearing them all.  I have had on the shade Wallis for 3 days now!

So 3 days in and it still looks exactly the same… minimal chipping on the pinky nail but that is about it.

The website description says “tarnished, metallic olive gold” but I would say specifically it is a dirty olive with chuncky gold flecks.  It is AMAZING!

Since this has been on my nails I have been soooo ready for fall…. too bad it actually is still summer.  Hot and muggy Florida. :/

Have you tried anything from Butter London?  What is your favorite polish from them?  Let me know in the comments below!

Amethyst Skies and Geisha Skin FOTD (TATCHA update)

I haven’t played with my purple eyeshadows in a while and I had some time to kill so I decided to use the Laura Geller Amethyst Skies “quad” and I came up with a this look… After playing around too long I didn’t have time to do my hair so PROMPTLY after this picture my hair went into a sock bun! LOL

This eyeshadow set was limited edition (I am about 99.9% sure you can’t purchase it anymore) but there are lots of similar colors out there so work with what you have!

I tried to keep it pretty light on everything and just give a glow to all of the features of my face…

And I hope you can tell, but the TATCHA skincare routine that I have been using has been a GODSEND.  My face is 100% clear and honestly improving by the day.  I can’t say enough good things about it.  I have been using it for over a month now and I have seen GREAT improvements.  My favorite things from the skincare routine are still the serum and the cleansing oil.  If you are curious I would definitely start there.

Polish & Co: Mint To Tell U, But You Knew That

Some of my readers know that I am very, VERY southern.  Due to moving quite often (because my husband is in the US Navy) I have lost a lot of my accent but it only takes a split second of chatting with a fellow southerner to pull it all back out.  One thing that comes with a southerner is a touch of pride: pride in oneself, pride in where they are from, and pride in the success of other southerners.  Polish & Co. is a North Carolina based nail polish company, and I am proud that they southern and sassy!

North Carolina and Mint Juleps go hand in hand so it is no surprise that the beautiful mint colored nail polish has the sassy name “Mint To Tell U”!  The orange-coral shade is called “But You Knew That”!  I cannot tell you how many times I have said that phrase in my life while playfully teasing someone.  The playful phrase and fun polish, to me, are a perfect fit.  Also, what an AWESOME combo!  Not only the colors look great together but the titles of the polish are hilarious when paired with one another..  :)

The formula of these polishes are a tad thick.  “Mint To Tell U” is perfectly opaque with one coat, but I realized that “But You Knew That” needs 2-3 coats to build up to that same opacity.  They applied easily and lasted a few days without any chipping and minimal tip wear.

The colors I have are on the more summery side but they easily transition into the fall!  There is one passage I read on their “About Us” page on their site that I LOVE, which is:
Now, thanks to founder and nail industry expert of 23 years, Theresa Williamson you can have at least your nails emulate that syrupy, southern belle look. Nails are just as important as the latest fashion accessory and can have a large impact on an outfit and a personal general look, so getting them right is crucial.”

A few months back I wouldn’t have agreed with this statement because my nails were always bare or a basic french manicure and only my toes had fun colors on them, but I am now a full blown nail polish addict and couldn’t agree more.  I change my nail polish on my hands several times a week, okay… probably more like daily unless I am testing a polish for longevity!  I love to coordinate them with what I am wearing or coordinate a design with an upcoming event.

Polish & Co. nail polishes retail for $12 and are available on their retail site.  If you buy more than one polish it automatically qualifies you for free shipping on your order!  Who doesn’t love free shipping?  You can also check out their Facebook page and Twitter feed!
I adore these polishes and I am certain you will to!  What color nail polishes are you going to be wearing to transition you into the different weather and different fashion trends?

Holy Smoke-y FOTD

My latest Taupe-tastic Tuesday was all about Guerlain Holy Smoke loose eyeshadow.  It is one of my most favorite taupes and it was quite popular with all of you as well.  I had several requests to show a look using the eyeshadow so I decided to go ahead and do a look with it for you!!
I am a big fan of a nice, softened smoky eyes so that is what I tend to do on myself most often.  I did a small winged eyeliner as well.

I did go to work today so I wanted to keep it very conservative with all of the products I used…

Please excuse my crazy hair.  It has been a horrendous mess of weather lately and I wasn’t too concerned with styling my hair this morning because I knew it would be a rat’s nest as soon as I walked out my front door.

Products used:
Too Faced BB Cream in Nude Glow
It Cosmetics concealer in Medium and Tan mixed
Besame Cosmetics Brightening Violet Loose Powder
Chanel Fandango JC
Laura Mercier Lotus Pink layered onto apple of cheek
Bare Escentuals Brightening Pearl Mineral Veil as highlight on cheekbones (very subtle–I love it)

Smashbox cream liner in Onyx
Revitalash eyeliner in Raven used to tightline
It Cosmetics Hello Lashes (OMG–Instant HG product)
Giorgio Armani Rouge D’Armani in Beige 102
Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker in Baby Doll
Lots of products for such a simple look, don’t ya think?  My looks may look very common and ordinary but I honestly put a lot of love into creating my looks and trying to hide the bad and emphasize the good.  Hope you guys enjoyed this look.  I don’t do these types of post as often as I used to but I do enjoy being able to show you guys what makeup I am wearing lately and what it actually looks like on me.  I think one of the reasons I don’t post more FOTDs is because I feel like I do a lot of similar looks, just switching out the products… I hate to bore you all but I know what looks work best for me.  Let me know if you would like to see more looks from me in… and if so, anything specific?
*Some of the products mentioned in this post were sent for editorial consideration.  I was not asked to do a look with any of those items, I used the products because I like them and they work for me.

Review: Shadora Jewelry

If you have been following me for any length of time or just looked at a few “Face of the Day” posts you will likely have noticed my earrings.  I get lots of comments on the jewelry that I wear day to day and earrings are the biggest question.  Everyone wants to know where I get my earrings from.  I shop all over the place but today I want to share with you a pair of Black Diamond Accent Huggie Earrings in Sterling Silver from Shadora.com.

Shadora.com is a website that sells fabulous pieces at very affordable prices.  The jewelry they feature are classic items that you are sure to love not only today, but 10 years from now as well.  They always send you the piece you purchased in a beautiful box, so it is a perfect option for gift-giving..  I like having a box for my pieces of jewelry to go in when I store it, so this is a major plus for me.  Last thing I want to note is that they always ship for free, no minimum purchase required.
The piece I have are gorgeous hugging style hoops.  They are sturdy pieces and they are absolutely gorgeous.  The diamond accent is just that, only one diamond in each earring.  With that being said, you really wouldn’t be able to tell because the sparkle and shimmer that radiates from these earrings is unreal.  These earrings are very versatile… I have been wearing them all week with casual clothes, slightly more dressy clothes and everything in between.  My husband is in the Navy and recently made Chief, so I will be attending the Khaki Ball for the first time this year… I will be wearing a simple “Little Black Dress” and heels and was thinking of pairing these earrings with that as well.  :)  If you go to my most recent post about red lips you can sort-of see them peeking out from under my hair.
These earrings are on Shadora.com for $19.99.  Not only are these earrings gorgeous but there are many, many others that are just as stunning.  Let me know which one catches your eye!  What is your favorite kind of jewelry (earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc) and why?  Let me know in the comments below.

REVIEW: Reviva Labs Vitamin E Stick

I am all about creams and gels for my under eye area as well as pots of balm for my lips, but I am also a big fan of convenience.  Creams/balms require you to get hands on with the product, and even though that isn’t necessarily a bad thing the lazier I can be the better.  Reviva Labs Vitamin E Stick is an absolute godsend, and its such a multi-use product.

The Vitamin E Stick is a vitamin e oil based solid product in a lipstick form.  I keep this with me at all times, and throughout the day I will pull it out of my purse to apply on my lips.  For the lips it is perfect for keeping them hydrated and smooth.  It has SPF 15 so that is great to keep my lips protected from the sun; it also protects from the wind and any other element.
I also use this in place of eye creams in the evenings.  After I finish my cleansing routine I apply this under my eyes and then apply whatever face serum and cream I am using for the evening.  This is soo hydrating to my under eye area.  I was weary at first about putting an oil onto my skin that would stay on overnight, but did it anyway for the sake of reviewing and I woke up completely impressed.  My eyes weren’t as puffy as they normally are after I wake up and my skin in that area seemed to glow.
Not only is this for the lips and eyes, but I have applied it to burns (and I have an ugly one on my wrist right now a conical wand) and other dry areas.  It basically replaced Neosporin in my house.  Even my 6 year old asks for it! :)
As you can see from the “bullet” it gets a lot of use.  It sinks right in without leaving any sort of waxy film.  The only word I can use to describe it is AMAZING.
The Reviva Labs Vitamin E Stick retails for $4 on revivalabs.com, you can click this link to take you right to the product itself.  I also noticed that Ulta carries lots of products from the brand while I was browsing the store a few days ago.
What do you currently use for lip balm or under eye cream?  Let me know in the comments below.

REVIEW: Jennifer Bradley Luscious Lips

Red lips are a major Fall 2012 beauty trend and I, for one, and excited.  A lot of people think they can’t wear red lips for whatever reason and I am happy to share with you an a way to make them more wearable. Jennifer Bradley Luscious Lips Combo has 3 products that will create the perfect day-to-night luscious, red lips!

The three products included in the kit are the Rosewood Lip Liner, Bronze Gold lipstick, and Luscious Lip Plumper.  You can see the swatches below.

First you want to line your lips with the Rosewood lip liner, then fill them in entirely.  The brown lip liner helps in the transition from your skin to the dramatic red.  You then apply this warm-toned red lipstick, Bronze Gold, over the top of the liner.  Applying the lipstick over the liner will lock in the color, and your lipstick will last way longer than applied alone.  The last step to a pretty pout is applying the Luscious Lip Plumper.  It acts as a gloss while also moisturizing the lips.
While we are talking about moisturizing the lips I would like to mention that this is a very important step.  I have been applying the Luscious Lip Plumper to my lips even without lipstick.  It contains pep-tides to smooth  out the surface and in turn makes the lips appear more full, but without the tingly sensation that most lip plumpers have.

If some of you are curious about what this brown/red combination looks like here is how I wore it over the weekend.  As you can see there is really no trace of the brown what-so-ever, just perfectly long-lasting red!

In case you want to see a video on application I am going to lip Jennifer Bradley’s YouTube video, where she shows you step-by-step how to create the perfect red lip.
If you are worried about how these warm tones will look on you I want to assure you that they are easily wearable.  I did a consultation over the weekend and applied this same combo on a very pale, cool-toned lady and she loved it.
This combo retails for $48 and is sold on JenniferBradley.com, and this link will take you straight to the set.
How often do you wear red lips?  What is your favorite red?  Let me know in the comments below!  ;)

Taupe-tastic Tuesday: Guerlain Holy Smoke

Today’s feature on Taupe-tastic Tuesday is one that you can’t get anymore unfortunately.  I wouldn’t normally torture you like that (or would I?) but I FINALLY found it the other day lost deep into my blush drawer.  I have been searching for it for a long time now and I was so excited to have found it I have been wearing it non-stop.  It is a loose pigment by Guerlain called Holy Smoke.

This eyeshadow was released in the Terracotta 2009 limited edition collection.  I was lucky enough to have one of my fabulous friends gift this to me and I will forever be thankful.  It is stunning.

This taupe is a beautiful luxurious formulation also while being finely milled.  Even though it is a messy loose pigment it delivers great color pay-off and has a beautiful multi-colored sparkle, which you can see on the wand in the above photo.  The taupe itself is it’s own monster: it has a rosy tint to it while also keeping a nice golden tone as well.

The wand is the biggest complaint with this product.  The applicator itself is total crap.  It doesn’t deliver the product without dropping it all down your face and cheeks, so I usually dump enough to work with onto the back of my hand and use a basic eyeshadow brush for application.
As you can see in the swatch below, you can have a nice opaque finish which is completely stunning and give yourself a Holy Smoke-y eye or you can blend it out into a GORGEOUS sheer wash of color.

If you can get your hands on this, through a friend/blogsale/ebay (be careful) I would definitely encourage it.  It is probably one of my most favorite taupes ever.  The name itself sounds sexy and mysterious and that is definitely how I would classify this gorgeous shade.
What taupe have you been loving lately?  Let me know in the comments below!  I may need to stock up soon to keep you guys rolling with the Tuesday Taupe posts.  Also… would you guys be interested in seeing more drugstore taupes?  I don’t have a ton but I am sure I can go scout some out for you!

NARS Andy Warhol Holiday Collection 2012: Pop Collection

This collection is absolutely massive.  It is a 3 part collection.  I already posted on the Color Collection, the Silver Factory Collection and now I am bringing you the Pop Collection.

Andy said: “Pop art is about liking things.” Like flowers. Soap. Money. Celebrities.
Warhol loved silk screens because if you get the picture right, you can make
more just the same. But in a range of colors – something different every time.
Andy said, “I use mostly artificial color.” If you’re not trying to be real you don’t
have to get it right. That’s art.

Palettes feature variations on Andy Warhol’s painting, Flowers, 1965.
Chrome logo on compact and Andy Warhol quotes on mirrors.

White, brown rose, dark lavender, and gold against a shimmering lavender
grey background and black overspray

White and heather blue against a shimmering lavender grey background
and black overspray

White, pink champagne, and dark brown against a shimmering lavender
grey background and black overspray

Debbie Harry was Andy’s pal – the pop star and the pop artist. Debbie was thrilled
to be painted by him because it meant she was as famous as Liz and Marilyn.
A Warhol portrait was like the best makeover – looking great in all different colors.
Inspired by Warhol’s use of “Diamond Dust,” the palette’s colors sparkle with glitter
and Diamond Powder, made of real micronized diamonds. Palette includes:
White shimmer
Sparkling turquoise
Starry black
Twinkling purple
Brilliant cream
Shimmering pink champagne

Warhol made paintings of iconic people and he made ordinary things iconic, like
flowers, soup, and lips. His paintings were pop themes and their bright, electric
colors popped off the walls.
Presented in a keepsake soup can, the gift set includes:
DRELLA (ultra-sheer hot pink)
CHELSEA GIRLS (innocent, flesh-toned beige)
BLUE MOVIE (pink sherbet)
MYTHS (rosy pink)
In 1964 Andy painted flowers because he wanted to make something pretty.
Decades later they still look fresh, popping out of any background like a pretty face.
The gift set includes:
IT NAIL POLISH (black violet)
LIP GLOSS (peachy pink with golden shimmer)
This collection will be released October 1 at Sephora and Sephora.com.
