April 2012 Favorites
April was a good month of beauty products for me. Some of these you may have seen in previous posts and some you haven't. I revisited some old trusties as well as some rising stars in my stash. I can get a little long winded and off the subject so I am just going to get on with all the pictures. ;)
I actually own two MAC 222 brushes and I used them like crazy during April. I did a lot of crease work during the month and these are my go-to brushes for that.
As many of you know I am a card-holding Taupe Haux *giggles* and I found a inexpensive one that I adore. I have work this more than half the days out of this month and I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon and it is Essence's Party All Night. This one has been depotted.
Look at the sheen that this gives off!!! It appears like a taupe with a gold shine. Lovely. And the formula is just so soft and.... for lack of a better word AMAZING!
This has .08 oz of product! For reference a MAC eyeshadow is .05 oz. And get this.... The Essence costs just $1.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I recently bought the Sun Saftey kit from Sephora and the Dr. Jart+ BB Premium BB cream was in it. I have been skeptical of the non-Asian BB creams flooding the market at the moment. If you have followed my blog for long you will likely know that I own and love many different Asian BB creams from brands like Missha and Lioele and I had some from Skin79 for a while and various samples of others and as a whole I really love BB creams. I am PROUD to say that the Dr. Jart+ BB cream does really compare. It is slightly less coverage (only a smidgen) than the others I mentioned but it smells nice, feels great on the skin, and honestly matches my skin-tone almost exact.
This is another favorite for the complexion. Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer paired with the Sigma Precision Angled P84 brush are AMAZING at taking care of my discoloration and blemishes. I understand that the Sensual Skin Enhancer is a foundation but I adore it as concealer. The Sigma P84 is a perfect brush for this product. It is dense and really blends the concealer in perfectly.
A lip color that I have been wearing non-stop in April was by Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy and it is called Lilac. It is a nice deep pinky lilac shade with subtle shimmer.
It brightens up my face and makes me feel girly when I wear it.
If you can't tell I am all about skincare lately and this is one of my favorite steps in my morning routine. Ole Henriksen True Serum Collagen Booster smells citrus-y and leaves my skin feeling plump and smooth.
And I have FINALLY found my HG facial cleanser... Boscia MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil. The first time I used this I was leaning over my sink and looking into the mirror while rubbing it in and I literally watched the makeup drip off my face. It was amazing. My skin has been reacting to it nicely as well. I RARELY break out anymore and if I do it is usually hormonal or I lost my mind and passed out from exhaustion in my makeup.
I was totally skeptical of using an oil cleanser because I have oily skin but it is amazing. My pores are unclogged and my skin is hydrated.
The weather is getting warmer and I have been prepping myself for wearing shorter sleeves and shorts. I have been using the St. Tropez Gradual Tan. I haven't used a tanning bed in about 5 years now and I do not sun bathe but I do love to look golden in the summer months. I do live in Florida so I do naturally tan a bit in the summer with trips to the beach but I SPF my whole body down while I am out there. This self tanner truly gives off the appearance of a realistic tan. Not to mention that it smells 200xs better than any other gradual tanners.
When I first purchased Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash I absolutely hated it. I stored it away with my other mascaras for a month or so and decided to give it another go and fell in LOVE with it. It makes my lashes thicker and longer and I have actually had people come up to me and ask me if I was wearing false lashes.
The Garnier Anti-Dark-Circle Rollerball is fantastic for my under eyes. It is a nice treatment for the eye but on days that I am just going to be out running errands I will roll this under my eyes and throw on some mascara and I am out the door. The pigmentation of this product is crazy good. I am still confused on whether this is a legitimate concealer but man, oh man is it a go-to product for me.
Last but certainly not least is the Essence Gel Eyeliner in Midnight in Paris. I have been using this baby for a couple months now and the more I use it the more I fall in love. The formula is great. It doesn't dry up and clump like some other more expensive brands I have owned in the past have done. It glides right onto my eye and doesn't grab or tug and it stays put FOREVER. It really is perfection. I am telling you, if my local Ulta carried more of this line I would probably become an Essence junkie. :)
