Soap and Glory Lid Stuff in What’s Nude

If there is one thing that I love with all my heart is a GREAT neutral palette.  Recently I witnessed a thread on a beauty forum about what was required to call a group of eyeshadows a palette.  I declare this Soap and Glory quad in What’s Nude a palette due to the fact you can do an entire look and not need to have any other eyeshadow added.  There is a light, medium and dark matte shadow and a shimmery taupe.  *sigh*  and *swoon*
As you can see, it didn’t strike me to review this until after I had given it a lot of love already.  This quad instantly became a staple in my makeup routine.  Such a versatile group of shades.  It is perfect on it’s own but if you wanted to use it based around another shade it seems to work perfectly as well.
The creators over at Soap and Glory are geniuses in my opinion.  The look of their palette is seriously recognizable. **AHEM** MAC **AHEM**  Whether they intended on having such similar looking packaging to a leading brand or not, it was certainly a smart move.  The eyeshadows are also quite large at 1.5 grams each, and you can get this entire quad at or around the same price as one MAC eyeshadow.

Top Row: Vanilla, Pink T.  Botton Row: Mudhoney, Aubersheen.
One thing that could be more important than the shades themselves is the texture.  These eyeshadows are like butter.  Soft and blendable.  Think Urban Decay had a baby with Chanel.  They are smooth but they aren’t quite as loose as the Urban Decay eyeshadows.  Their formula reminds me a lot of Chanel single eyeshadows but maybe a bit better.

Fingertip swatches L to R: Mudhoney, Pink T, Vanilla, Abersheen.
These swatches were one swipe on the eyeshadow.  What fantastic quality, right?  I am dumbfounded.  The sad part is that these aren’t available in the U.S. currently–hopefully soon.  The Soap and Glory quads are getting a lot of attention so hopefully the decide to extend the line and jump the pond.
Swatches in Daylight L to R: Aubersheen, Vanilla, Pink T, Mudhoney.
I can’t say thank you enough to the GORGEOUS Mira for sending me this quad.  She has great taste and she knew I would love this as well.  It honestly is like a mini Naked palette.  Everything you need for day to day in just 4 colors.
Same swatches as above but indoors with flash.
So!  Have you tried this quad?  Do you have another go to quad that can be considered a palette?  Please let me know in the comments below.

Prada Candy

Oh how I love thee, let me count the ways…
I was recently lucky enough to get the Prada Candy gift set as a present from my husband.  I have been wanting it since it first hit the stores (what few stores it is currently in) but I would never shell out the money for it.  This fragrance gained a lot of attention straight away and because it isn’t carried in any of my local department stores yet I was dying to give it a try.  A friend of mine sent me a sample of it in a gift package and when I smelled it I knew that we were destined for each other.  I guess all it took was for my husband to smell it on me for him to feel the same way. ;)
Info from the brand:
“Prada Candy, the new feminine fragrance of Prada enriches the Prada brand’s fragrance universe with another vision: colorful, pop and explosive.
Prada Candy incarnates the new Prada woman: she’s daring, sensual, full of life and implosive.
The perfume is named after this seductive and joyful girl who is running wild.
Seductive notes: Joyful and Carefree—Explosion of caramel
Powdery notes: Sophistication—Cocktail of musks
Vanilla notes: Sensuality—Benjoin overdose”

I am so glad that you can look up the scent description because I have a hard time describing what I am sniffing.  All I could say about this is sweet and sensual.  It makes me just want to cuddle up with the one I love!  The notes are similar to Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille and even Aquolina Pink Sugar but it still has an uniqueness all it’s own.  It is lighter than Serge Lutens and more grown up than Pink Sugar.

It does need to be noted that this scent will last all day long.  I can spray it on in the morning and I can still smell it on me and my clothes when I am getting home from work.  It is an Eau de Parfum so it is more concentrated than a Eau de Toilette.

Every last detail of the bottle screams high end.  The spritzer, though modern, mimics something that you would have seen on fancy perfume bottles of the previous decades.

The gift set came in this beautiful box.  I love the girl on it and everything she represents.
I adore this fragrance.  I haven’t been this excited since MAC decided to re-release Turquatic.  LOL  Thanks for reading and as always if you have anything to say or ask please do in the comments below.

Giorgio Armani Super Review

Some of you may remember a post I did a couple months back letting you know that I had purchased a kit from my local department store of Giorgio Armani items.  I had never tried the brand before and was intrigued at this kit because it was put together to offer a super value.  The set comes with a cosmetics bag/traincase (which has a great mirror inside of the lid) and it is filled with LOTS of full sized items as well as some sample sized products.
I had intended to do this post months ago but I had lost the files after I edited them.  I discovered them today hiding in some abstract folder mixed in with my husbands motorcycle pictures.  Weird!  :)  So even though I have now changed the domain name to my website these were watermarked before hand.  And just to let you know there may be several posts coming up with my old watermark because I had edited a bunch of photos before deciding to move forward with the domain name change.
Anyway–because I bought these products as one purchase I wanted to do the reviews all in one fun review-filled post.  So here goes nothing.  You may want to grab something to drink or eat because this is one of the longest posts that I have ever done.
The colors were pre-chosen so I was stuck with a Face Fabric in a shade slightly too dark.  I know that this will work perfectly for me this summer but for not it is a smidge too much.  I have been mixing it with various BB creams and it makes it work perfectly.  I can say that it adds more matte long wearing feel to all the BB creams I have mixed it with.
Info from the brand:
Its unique Micro-fil™ formulations bring lightness and fluidity to makeup, allowing infinite blending and layering to enhance the natural glow of the skin.  A subtle, neutral palette is accented with two shades – porcelain and apricot – to be used alone to create a healthy-looking glow, combined with any of the shades to boost the color, or alone to sculpt or highlight the complexion. For normal to oily skin, providing sheer coverage.”

It is priced at $49.

I absolutely love eyeliner and this one is just pretty on the eyes.  It is called Smooth Silk Eye Pencil.  *SWOON* What a beautiful name for a beautiful product.  I love that it is in a pencil form and that the wood around the product is just as black as the eyeliner itself.  All that being said it is a super nice product on it’s own.  Deep black and lasts forever.
Info from the brand:
This silky soft formula allows for precise, easy application and versatile looks. Use it to subtly define or to intensify your eye look. Glide the smudger over eyeliner for a sexy, smoky result. Available in a subtle palette from pale taupe to soft black.
For an ultra-glamorous look, extend the eye pencil slightly outside the outer corner of the eyes. Build in other eye lining colors with the eye liner brush and moistened eye shadow.
Priced at $27.

The kit also included the #10 Fluid Sheer Golden Beige.  It is a gorgeous color but at this time it is a tad too dark for me to use to highlight with.  I have mixed this into foundation a few times but I find that it is slightly more shimmery than I am accustomed to like.  That being said I still adore it and am sure I will get lots of use out of it when I am darker.  This is priced at $59.

Fluid Master Primer claims to “smooth the skin’s surface, refine pores and create a perfect canvas.”  The company says that it forms a matte yet translucent glow to the skin and also enables the makeup you place on top to last longer.  I tested this out a few times and I really agree.  I like the primer and if you are a girl that enjoys a good all-in-one primer then this is one that you should jump on it.  This is priced at $57.

Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill is cult favorite for the brand.  I have been wanting this mascara for a LONG time and to be quite honest it is the reason I purchased the entire kit.  I have S E V E R A L mascaras open at the present time so this is one that I haven’t opened yet but I am literally sitting on my hands not to open it up and play with it.  Maybe this week.  I have thrown a few mascaras away in the last week or two.  Keep your eyes out for a special review on this.  This mascara is priced at $30.

If there is one thing that I love it is a good nude lip.  This lipstick is AMAZING.  It is a Rouge d’Armani in the shade Beige 102.  It was love at first sight.  It has been a go-to color ever since purchase.  It has made a permanent home in my makeup/handbag.  I never leave home without it.  Also it has become a sort of toy for me when my mind is wandering.  My hands always have to be doing something wether it is twirling my hair or fiddling with a loose string on my shirt.  This has a magnetic closure so I find myself holding it quite often pulling it apart and letting it click back together.  :)  Yes, I am one of those people.  Priced at $30.

Another beautiful product from this hit was the Gloss D’ Armani in Plum 600.  It looks like it is just going to be a regular ole gloss but one you put it on your lips it gives a gorgeous shine and brilliant color pay off.  The sparkle that this one contains is noticeable but not obnoxious and the formula of these is like butter.  I am not a fan of the sticky gloss committee.  I have gotten rid of all the overly sticky glosses in my collection (unless I am in love with a color and can’t find a dupe!) and this one is here to stay!!!!!!  Priced at $28.

Swatches L to R:  Fluid Sheer #2, Smooth Silk Eye Pencil, #10 Fluid Sheer, Gloss d’Armani Plum 600, Rouge d’Armani Beige 102.

The sample sized products that were included in this kit were a couple skincare items, a couple foundation samples and another fluid sheer.  It was the #2 Fluid Sheer Shimmering Beige (swatched above), Luminous Silk Foundation in 5.5, Lasting Silk UV Foundation in 5.5, Regenessence [3.R] Multi-Corrective Rejuvenating Cream, Regenessence [3.R] Youth Regenerator.

The Regenessence [3.R] Youth Regenerator is a gorgeous serum.  Even the sample feels amazing: glass jar and glass dropper.  The serum itself is a wonderful concentrate for accelerated regeneration.  The main ingredients are Linseed Extract to regulate extra-cellular communication, Vitamin CP for collagen regeneration, and ProXylan remodels skin matrix. It supposedly provides 24 hour hydration and can be worn day and night by itself or layered underneath the next product I will talk about.

This serum is a product that I would like to say that I will never be without but it’s full sized price tag is a lot for me to bite off and chew.  It is $140 full sized.  I am going to give this sample a go all the way through until the end and see if I definitely can’t live without it.  Chances are I will be smitten and broke.  :)
The Regennessence [3.R] Multi-Corrective Rejuvenating Cream claims to “act on skin surface to reduce wrinkles, firm skin, correct tone and texture irregularities, and provide 8 hours of hydration. In a silky lightweight texture that leaves skin feeling like velvet. For use day and night after the REGENESSENCE [3.R] Youth Regenerator.”  I absolutely love this cream.  It smells nice, feels luxurious and my skin looks better because of it.  This (full sized) is priced at $125.  Why do I have expensive taste?  :)

L to R: Multi-Corrective Rejuvenating Cream, Youth Regenerator
As you can see the cream looks a bit thicker but still on the thin side–this allows it to really sink into the skin nicely.  The Youth Regenerator is a transparent serum with a pink tint.  Very thin consistency and it sinks in and immediately leaves your skin feeling plump.  I love both of these products to pieces.

Thank you for reading my long, rambley, review-filled post.  I hope you found the information included helpful.  I appreciate all of your support and I wouldn’t still be here doing this if it wasn’t for my readers.  Every comment that I get lifts my spirits because it helps me remember that there are other people –just like me– out there that love reading about and experiencing new things in beauty.  That being said–have you ever tried Giorgio Armani products?/What was it?/Did you like it?  Also tell me about a serum or face product that you fell head over heels in love with.

Turn that Frown Upside Down

I have been meaning to do this post for a while now!  Got really backed up!  Frownies contacted me a while back and send me some of their products to review.  I have been using them for a couple weeks now and I must say that I really like the stuff I received.

First off is the Facial Patches.  These are little patches that are card-stock one one side and have an adhesive on the other.  The break apart and are customizable.  You smooth out your forehead and wet the adhesive side with the Rose Water Hydrator Spray and apply them to your forehead or between your eyes (wherever your needs are) and allow them to dry down.  It is meant to be left on overnight while you are sleeping.  What it does is allows your muscles to readjust and be trained to not frown your face.  Your wrinkle is sort of filled on the inside making the wrinkle less and less visible.

The spray isn’t only for use with the patches… You can also spritz your face with it for a pick-me-up throughout the day.  They are also used to re-hydrate the Eye Gels.  Not only is it a nice rose water but it also has Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid so it is like a facial treatment every time you spritz.

The Immune Shield may just be my favorite thing from the kit.  It has a nice roller ball and is used for the lips or around the eyes.  I don’t like it for my lips but it has been a godsend for my under eyes.  I have noticed that they look more plump and healthy.  I can’t just give credit to the Immune Shield for that though because I have been using the Eye Gels a lot as well.

They are exactly what they sound like they are.  Nice gel patches for your eye area.  You can use them on your eyelids or under your eyes.  It has great ingredients in it like Cactus Collagen, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe Vera, Vitamin B3, niacin and much more.  Really great ingredients for a really great product.  I made a video review and I am going to like that below.  I really do recommend these products if you are battling aging, wrinkling skin, just want to plump up your face or as preventative measures.

If you are interested in trying them there is currently a 20% off code at that will be good until June 8th which is “bstat”.  Let me know in the comments below if you have tried them or intend to try them.

False Lashes

This is a topic that I have been meaning to cover for quite some time.  I feel like False Lashes are one of the most under-rated tool in a gal’s beauty arsenal.  A good set of false lashes can transform your everyday makeup to something more flirty, elegant, polished, dramatic, or even just add extra thickness to your own lashes if you choose a pair that are fairly natural.
I feel like a lot of people are intimidated by false lashes because it seems like a largely unnecessary process during your makeup routine.  I will admit–the first time or two that you apply these you will probably have some “oops” moments but with all things that are worth doing you will figure it out.
The way that I originally got into wearing false lashes is because I was sort of forced.  I was curling my eyelashes one day before applying mascara and something spooked me and while I had my lashes clamped in the curler I turned my head to see what happened and my hand stayed completely still……………..  I ripped out a little over half of my eyelashes on my right eye.  I was devastated.  I have relatively long lashes and it was completely noticeable.  I went to my friends house to show her what I had done and she could do nothing but laugh.  (It is pretty funny in retrospect.)  Anyway… I threw on a pair of sunnies (to mask my eyes) and headed to my local drug store and bought some glue and lashes and spent the rest of the weekend conquering application.  My lashes took about 6-8 months to completely grow back so in that time I became sort of a pro at applying lashes.  I wore more subtle lashes throughout that time because I was afraid of people realizing I was wearing them but since then I like to use more dramatic lashes for fun.
I recommend trying half lashes at first.  That is where you want your extra length anyway and they are MUCH easier to apply than a full strip of lashes.  The Ardell 305s are one of my favorites for half lashes.  They add a really nice oomph to the outside half of the eyes causing your eyes to look wider and bigger.

I also really enjoy Ardell Demi Wispies.  I have used this specific pair several times.  As long as you take care of your lashes they can last you a long time.  Handle them with care: When you are removing your lashes from the packaging don’t just rip them out, take your finger and in a downward motion roll them off.  Don’t bend the lashes or tug on them individually.  When adjusting them to make them apply just right, grip them by the band not the lashes themselves.  Slowly remove the lashes when you are done wearing them and always clean the glue from the band.  If you follow those simple steps then you should get a lot of use from each pair of lashes.

On the more dramatic side these Paperself eyelashes look like they would be so fun.  I am reserving their wear for something where I would be more playful with my makeup… Like for Halloween or if I just really wanted to go over the top with my makeup.  For instance–if I were to do a YouTube tutorial and I was just playing around these would be sort of perfect.

Shu Uemura makes some incredible lashes.  These are a pair called Luxe Black.  The criss cross pattern gives the affect of lots of lashes.  I love criss cross lashes.

And these are MAC #7s.  They don’t look like much in the palette but on the eye they are very dramatic.  I used these in my Holiday Dragon FOTD and my Henry Clive FOTD.  At first I was scared to wear these because of the crazy length it added but after a while I got over it.  Fun stuff.

I do notice that when I am wearing false lashes I get a few more people looking at me than usual and that can be sort of nerve-wracking at first but I also get several comments from people asking me “What mascara are you using?” and when I tell them false lashes they are blown away.  Best rule of thumb with lashes is pick something that you like.  I tend to go for a more natural/neutral look so I most often use something like Ardell 110s or a nice half lash for my day to day looks.  I know a lot of people that enjoy individual lashes but for me those are no good.  They don’t give me the thickness that I am looking for.
I use two different types of glue.  I am currently loving the DUO lash adhesive in black.  I have always used the clear one before but I had the same tube of it for a long time and it started turning into an odd consistency due to aging so I tossed it and purchased something new.  The black to me looks more natural and blends in well with the lashes.  I also use the Revlon lash adhesive that has a brush applicator.  That one is nice for precision.  I actually keep that in my travel makeup bag for touch-ups if my lashes start lifting away from my eye throughout the day.
If you don’t wear false lashes or gave up on them I am challenging you to get back on that horse and try a demure pair of half lashes.  If you have never tried them, what are you waiting for?  I hope you got something out of this post. Thank you for stopping by to see my latest ramblings.  ;)

My Favorite Highlighters

I go through phases with my makeup obsession.  Sometimes I am totally focused on mascara, eyeshadows take over for a month or two here and there… currently my focus is on highlighters.  I haven’t skipped a day of highlighting in almost a month.  I have about 15-20 different highlighters and I picked out my top 5 powder highlighters as well as my top 5 liquid highlighters.
Powder Highlighters

Guerlain Meteorites in Teint Beige
I can not say enough good things about these little balls of fabulosity.  I held off on purchasing these for so long because I was just confused as to what they were.  I believe these are technically just a face powder but they do add a good bit of luminosity (which is why I included them in with my highlighters).  For those days that I am wearing a completely matte face I do add this powder to the features I want to stand out.  Meteorites give me a radiant look and keep the look very subtle and sophisticated.

Laura Mercier Rose Rendezvous
Is it bad form to include a LE product in a favorites post? Possibly.  I am sorry but it is gorgeous.  I have heard it is similar to Estee Lauder Modern Mercury and the new MAC Superb MSF.  It is gorgeous though.  Looks almost metallic but definitely looks glorious on the cheek bones or down the nose.  I even use this as an eyeshadow.  The pigmentation is amazing and is honestly my very favorite of all my powder highlighters.  Not to mention that it is beautiful in the pan.

theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer
This is one I purchased because it was so hyped up by the online beauty community.  I got it at TJ Maxx for half retail price but I can honestly say that it is worth every penny of it’s full retail value.  Very nice, buttery, smooth and sooo beautiful on the skin.  Definitely worth a swatch if you see it in person.

MAC Blonde Mineralize Skinfinish
And yes… the MSF’s in this post are also LE but aren’t just about all MAC products?  Again sorry!  But I love this.  It is a beautiful cool toned pink highlight.  There are four different hues of a cool toned pink in this pan and I loooove it.  It is also pigmented enough to wear as blush but it is soooo shimmery that I restrict it’s usage to highlighting.

MAC Refined Mineralize Skinfinish
This is my go-to highlight for a warmer look.  It is pretty and also subtle.  Much less subtle from the fore-mentioned Blonde MSF.  It is something that I wouldn’t be able to use as a blush but it can definitely hold it’s own as a highlighter.

Liquid Highlighters

Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer #10
This is a newer product for me.  I usually mix just a tiny little smidge in with my foundation but I have used it as a highlight and I find it gorgeous.  It is a little bit noticeable as a highlight though–and for me that is not exactly what I am going for when I highlight.  I want something that is a more natural highlight–where it looks like I am “lit from within.”

Rouge Bunny Rouge Sea of Nectar
Ahhhh…. what can I say?  I adore this highlighter.  It is probably THE highlighter that I reach for the most.  It is shimmery but subtle.  High shine but easy to wear.  Gosh… the QUINTESSENTIAL highlighter for me.  Thank you Rouge Bunny Rouge, thank you!

Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector in Champagne Bronze
This is my GO TO product for layering under my foundation but on the occasions that I have used it as a highlight on my cheek bones I have found it absolutely flattering as well.  Luminosity without noticeability.  A very difficult balance that this does effortlessly.

NARS Orgasm Illuminator
This is one that I don’t use all that much but it doesn’t mean that it isn’t beautiful.  I don’t really like the blush from the brand in the same name but this Illuminator is very nice.

NARS Copacabana Illuminator
This is probably my favorite from NARS’ line of Illuminators.  It has an iridescence that isn’t easily duped.  The formula also is note-worthy.  It is blendable but still doesn’t get lost.  Very gorgeous.  The smallest amount will definitely be enough.

L to R:
MAC Refined MSF, MAC Blonde MSF, theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer, Laura Mercier Rose Rendezvous, Guerlain Meteorites in Teint Beige.

L to R: Guerlain Meteorites in Teint Beige (essientially undetectable in this picture but gorgeous in real life), Laura Mercier Rose Rendezvous, theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer, MAC Blonde MSF, MAC Refined MSF

L to R:
Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer #10, RBR SoN, NARS Orgasm Illuminator, NARS Copacabana Illuminator, Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector in Champagne Bronze

Hope you enjoyed my favorite highlighters.  Now, tell me!!!! What is your favorite highlighter–what do you think I should try (or even review).  I am open to suggestions.  Leave it in the comments below.  As always, thank you for stopping by!!!

Anastasia Beverly Hills See and Be Seen Kit

Hello lovelies!  As you can tell by the title Anastasia Beverly Hills has a new kit to be released in May.  I wanted to give you a first look at the amazing products this includes.
First off, the packaging is fun and beautiful as always.
But what is inside is so much more amazing.  The kit includes an eyeshadow duo, two beautiful bright lipglosses for spring/summer, and a new tinted brow gel in the color Caramel.

The On Set Illumin8 eyeshadow duo is amazing.  Two very wearable colors that are always on trend for the warmer months.    A lighter gold toned champagne color as well as a more bronzy gold one.

Here are the finger swatches.  This is literally just one swipe.  Very pigmented, creamy, gorgeous formula.

This kit includes two exclusive, limited edition shades of the amazing Hydrafull Gloss.  The applicator of this gloss is super nice.  Instead of the typical doefoot or brush applicator, this one has a spatula.  It really offers a lot of control when applying–which I was skeptical of at first.
Also the formula is long lasting without being super sticky.  There is a little tackiness but it feels very nice and smooth.  Also the pigment in these glosses leaves a sort of stain.  There is no need to goop on a thick layer because just a little dab will do ya!
The one pictured here is Heiress.  It is a gorgeous bright pink that leans sort of coral.  It has no sparkle or glitter, just a nice creme finish.  It is such a beautiful wearable color.  I wore it in my last Face Of The Day post.  This is definitely my favorite of the two glosses included in this kit.
This other Hydrafull Gloss is named Plastic.  It is a nice blue tone pink.  This also has a creme finish.  The name of this makes me laugh.  It definitely reminds me of a barbie doll pink, so there ya go–Plastic!  :)

Anastasia came out with a new shade of their Tinted Brow Gel called Caramel.  I love the brush on this and the formula is great too.  I wore it today and it doesn’t leave my brows feeling hard or crunchy.  It adds a little of the caramel hue and it keeps my hairs in place AND they remain soft.

The brush pulls out just enough color for application and no gooping!  Love it!

I know that what you ladies want is swatches.  Here ya go.
L to R: On Set Eyeshadow Duo, Caramel Brow Gel, Hydrafull Glosses in Heiress and then Plastic

This is a fabulous kit that is set to hit stores sometime in May.  It will retail for $44 but is worth much more.  Be on the lookout for this kit!  It is a great one for summer!
