I just received my April 2012 Julep Maven package. I changed it from Boho Glam to It girl this month because I thought I might enjoy the colors from this box more. I love how they made this box look like an Easter basket. :)
One thing that I really love is packaging that is eye catching or quirky… not to mention that I am a kid at heart and wish the Easter Bunny still visited me! Thank you Julep for making that possible! (sort of) Can you see the cute easter egg shaped chocolates under the grass?
The bright colors of the ribbon and paper bag in this one was topped beautiful with spacers for giving yourself a well-deserved pedi.
And finally! Take a look at the beautiful colors in this one! Three lovely ladies by the name of Jessica, Neicy, and Penelope.
Jessica is described as a “Soft and Sweet baby blue creme.”
Neicy is “a bright pink to bring on sunny days.”
Penelope is “Opaque, almost white with a hint of blush. Elegant on manicures and pedicures.”
I swatched them on a card below the polishes in the next picture. They all show up true to color! I have to admit that the pigmentation of these polishes is very “what you see is what you get.”
Here is another picture of the card swatches under a flash.
This is my 2nd box from Julep and I must say that it is also a keeper. I am pleased with everything I have received so far, no duds. Thank you for reading/looking at my pictures. Hope you have all had a FABULOUS FRIDAY and continue to have a great weekend! Don’t forget that March isn’t over so if you still want to sign up for a penny then I think that it may still be available! ShareOnMarch is the code!
I am so excited to talk about the Kiss Nail Dress that I received from my Influenster Love Vox Box. As some of you may know I have been into stamping recently… if you did know this you may have realized I am not that good at it! I enjoy playing with the stamps but I can never reach the professional finish that I am striving for. I want nails that look well executed but I don’t have the skill it takes. That is where these bad boys come into play.
I am AMAZED at how easy these were to apply. It took me a few minutes and TAAA-DAAAA…. done. I think the hardest part was matching up the stickers themselves to the right nail. I really underestimated how wide my nail actually is from one side to the other. The curve of the nail threw me. Before I get into too much detail I want to include some important information from the brand itself.
Information provided by the brand:
Introducing Kiss Nail Dress, ultimate nail fashion for tips and toes! Just peel, apply, and shape for a manicure that lasts up to 10 days. On in minutes, off in seconds without remover. Nail Dress is available in 18 different styles, many of them featuring 3-dimensional jeweled designs. Check out Peplum, a deep black with multi-colored gems for a pop of color, or Babydoll, for a golden and glamorous jeweled look. Skip the topcoat, Nail Dress has it built in.
With 28 strips in each package, you can cut up your extras to create designs that can be used on top of polished or artificial nails. Nail Dress doesn’t dry out the way other polish strips can, so you can save them to use on your next DIY mani. A nail design booklet is included in each package, just in case you need a little inspiration.
And don’t forget about your feet! Nail Dress looks awesome on toes, too – just use the square side of the sticker for a perfect fit.
Where to Buy
Nail Dress’ suggested retail is $6.99 and is available in all major drug chains and mass retailers like WalMart, CVS and Walgreens.
I will start out by mentioning one of the negatives I experienced and then get on to what I like. My nail beds aren’t perfect. After removing the cuticles and everything I am left with misshapen cuticles/nail beds. It was hard for me to find a way to have them look “centered” on the nail because of this. Of course I really can’t blame the product for my poor genetic cuticle code but hey… It is an honest review and I am allowed my 2 cents.
On to all the positives…
These are easy to use–so easy that a newb to nails (like myself) should have absolutely no problem. They give you step my step instruction and that is what I followed and had no mishaps along the way.
They don’t dry out like other brands because of the fact that they are stickers. Mine sat in the packaging after my first inspection for a while and it affected them absolutely nada.
For stickers they last a great amount of time. I am extremely rough on my nails and a manicure with polish typically lasts at most 2 days without wear and tear or chipping. I am 4 days strong with these so far and I see no signs of wear. Truly impressive if you ask me.
There is absolutely no drying time. I needed to cook dinner and do my ordinary daily chores and I kept thinking to myself that I needed to wait to let them dry… but there was no need. Instant gratification.

I am really glad that I was able to receive these through Influenster because I will have to be honest… they looked gimmicky to me and I would have NEVER purchased them on my own. I am now all the more wise and would run out and purchase these in an instant. It is the cost of a bottle of nail polish for one manicure but it is cheaper than going to a salon and having them do a manicure. I would rush out and spend the few dollars to give your favorite pattern a try. I think I want to do a matching design on my fingers and toes now. EEP! Oh what the future holds!
Recently I did a post mentioning that I had received a complimentary Gillette Venus and Olay Razor through the Influenster VoxBox program. I have had enough time now to test the razor out and give you my complete thoughts.
First I want to mention what the brand says about their product:
“For the first time ever, Gillette Venus, a global leader in female shaving, and Olay, a global leader in skincare, are coming together to deliver a gold standard in shaving with the new Gillette Venus & Olay razor. Venus’ best shaving technology works with Olay Moisture Bars, offering women best-of-both-worlds shaving and skin expertise. Olay Moisture Bars help lock-in moisture to your skin for less dryness, and with every smoothing stroke, Venus’ five blades shave you close.
Venus’ five-bladed razors shave you close and adjust to women’s curves for a smooth and comfortable shave, even over tricky shaving areas like knees and ankles.
Olay Moisture Bars contain skin-enhancing elements found in Olay products: Petrolatum helps lock in skin’s moisture for less dryness and Glycerin helps offer that goddess glow! Just wet the razor to release a light lather – no separate shave cream required.
As with most Venus razors, new Venus & Olay also features a rounded, pivoting head designed for women’s curves, and a soft-grip ergonomic handle for confident control, even in wet and soapy environment
Where to Buy
A refillable Venus & Olay with one replacement cartridge sells for approximately $8.99-$10.99. Packages of three replacement cartridges are available for about $14.99 – $19.49.
Venus & Olay will be available starting March 15, 2012 at food, drug, convenience and mass merchandise stores throughout the United States.”
Here is what I think:
For starters I would like to mention that I have tried just about every razor on the market. I seem to have different specifications for separate areas of need. For the last couple of years I keep a cheap ol’ disposable razor and the Schick Intuition in my razor arsenal. I love the ease of the moisturization and the one-stop-shop quickness of the Intuition but it was very large and wasn’t good for getting into the underarms or even for being precise with ….. big toe hair? (OH GAWD I can’t believe I just said that on my blog! LOL) But in all seriousness–you all know it is there… and we need to rid ourselves of the embarrassing hair. Obviously that is where the little cheapie razors came in to play because they are perfect for precision.
The Gillette Venus and Olay Razor has brought the best of both worlds with perfect moisturization and all in one product (no need for a shaving gel) and the precision of one of the smaller razors. In fact there are 5 blades in this razor so it is even more powerful than any other razor. This razor packs so much punch that there is little need or want to go off looking for something better. Thank you Gillette and Olay for teaming up!
I found this beautiful picture on the Gillette Venus Facebook page and Thought I would share it. After I shave my legs without having to worry with the hassle of 2 different razors and shave gel I wanna do cart-wheels in a field of wild flowers too!

Great all in one razor. A little on the pricey side but convenience is worth that to me. And honestly–if you add up all that I had been using in comparison to this one product this is actually a steal.
Hello everyone. Was out getting some groceries this evening and ran across the latest New Beauty magazine. I know there are several people curious on what is in the upcoming April 2012 Test Tube for QVC and there were pictures. I looked to see if there were pictures of the regular Test Tube as well but there were none (at least that I saw!)
Kate Beckinsale is on the cover of the April issue in all of her glory. She is so beautiful it hurts to look at her!
Moving on to the contents… color/specifics unknown:
Tarte LipSurgence (retails for $24)
StriVectin-SD Intensive Concentrate for Stretch Marks and Wrinkles (½ oz, valued at $13.50. Full size: $135, 5 oz)
St. Tropez Gradual Tan Everyday Body Moisturizer (2 oz, valued at $8.96. Full size: $30, 6.7 oz)
Philosophy Amazing Grace 3 in 1 (2 oz, Retail $5)
WEN Cleansing Conditioner (Retail $18, 6 oz)
Peter Thomas Roth Laser-Free Moisturizing Gel-Cream (½ oz, valued at $34. Full size: $68, 1 oz)
Mally Evercolor Shadow Stick (retails at $25)
Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash (2 oz, valued at $7.27. Full size: $24, 6.6 oz)
You also get the magazine itself and it’s retail value is $9.95)
Total value for 2nd quarter QVC Test Tube: $145.68
Tarte LipSurgence is a product that I have been wanting to try for some time now. I just never make the purchase for whatever reason. Very excited to receive this shipment just for that!
StriVectin-SD is always something I am excited to get a sample of as well!
St. Tropez is perfect for this time of year. I have already started self-tanning due to it warming up outside and not having been to my local beach all winter.
Peter Thomas Roth is a line that I don’t really think about too often and I am glad to be able to give it a go.
I have reviewed a Mally Evercolor Shadow Stick in the past on this blog. It wasn’t a stellar review but hopefully it was just the specific one that I had tried. Future update on that review? Maybe.
Bliss Foaming Face Wash is a product that I have been interested in for a while. When Clarisonic started teaming up with Bliss the brand really started getting on my radar. If they are good enough for the Clarisonic–why not for me?
Philosphy Amazing Grace is truly a heavenly scent. Glad to have a travel size.
WEN Cleansing Conditioners haven’t worked for me in the past but I hope that I get one that is more “for me” than the past ones I received.
That is all the products that will be in the upcoming Test Tube for QVC… Hope you enjoyed reading and seeing the pictures (taken with my phone) and if you have any questions feel free to ask. This Test Tube airs April 14th but if you are signed up for Auto Delivery already yours could ship out as early as April 5th, if I am remembering correctly. Thank you!
Hello everyone! I have been using the Vivida Dietary Supplement and Anti-Aging Cream for a month or so and I am happy to tell you that I am completely enjoying them. I did receive these products from the company but that does not, in any way, alter my opinion on them.
The cream is a nice thick cream and it really does lock in moisture and help plump the skin. It is said to be an anti-aging cream and I can attest that the fine lines and wrinkles on my forehead and around my mouth and eyes have become less visible. I do feel like my appearance is slightly more youthful. With continued use I can surely expect some great results.
The supplement is made from natural ingredients and are meant to feed your skin from within. It concentrates on the dermal layer of skin that is beneath the surface. It helps improve elasticity and density. It also helps maintain moisture to give firmer, smoother, softer skin. Like I said when referencing the cream. I have seen less wrinkles and noticed moisture retention, so I am not sure if it is just one of the products or both that is causing the change.
I plan to repurchase these myself after I run out of the remainder of my supplements and I have a lot of the cream left over so that will last a while. Here is a video where I do sort of review in less words than I do on this post both of the products.
This is also a giveaway post so please feel free to enter to win the Dietary Supplement. You have to be 18 years or older and you can enter here and on my YouTube video for the giveaway for 2 chances to win total. It will run for two weeks. Thank you for your time and I hope you enjoy this giveaway.
Remember the Wish You Were Here palette I posted about a while back? Here is a great tutorial using the gorgeous tropical vacation themed palette. Hope you enjoy the video.
Gorgeous, right? Such a nice palette/kit. Thanks for reading. Check out all of Anastasia Beverly Hills merchandise and Sephora, Ulta, or anywhere Anastasia Beverly Hills products are sold. :) I thoroughly enjoy all of the Anastasia products that I have tried and haven’t found a fail product yet. Also, be sure to check out my review of the new Lash Genius.
I have been interested in Julep for a while now but I always seem to hold out for some remarkable deal before I ever really commit to anything. This month Julep has a promotion that you can start your subscription for $0.01! Free shipping, all you cover is the penny. The code to use is ShareOnMarch!
When I saw that promotion I took the survey they have and was matched up to Boho Glam! I have to admit that I was instantly excited, both of the polishes seemed to be right up my alley! Upon arrival I snapped these pictures for you ladies with my phone.. I am confined to iPhone-photography for a while, my husband misplaced my memory card for my regular camera so it puts a damper on any other kind of pictures at the moment.
You ladies know how I adore packaging and well packaged shipments. The detail really makes it exciting. It is truly like opening a present when there are nice bows and additional pretty details.
The colors in this month’s box for me were “Portia” and “Alicia”, which are both amazing. Alicia is a “sunny salmon perfect for beach pedicures” and Portia is a “sheer tropical blue with shimmery sparkles” in the words of Julep. I wore Alicia yesterday and it is beautiful and I am just wearing Portia on it’s own today. Tomorrow I am definitely going to layer them. They are amazing. I would have taken some “nail of the day” pictures for you but I mostly wanted to let you ladies know about the deal before it is over.
The extra in my box this month is their Glycolic Hand Scrub which is their facial for the hands. I have used it a few times now and it really is nice. Gentle but exfoliating for sure.
Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts on certain products. Hope you get your hands on this box while the promo is going. I don’t regret getting it one bit and look forward to the coming boxes and sharing them with you.
You have all seen pictures I’ve posted recently from my adventures out to drugstores looking for something else and stumbling on new Limited Edition or New Release displays… This is another one of those. I was at Walgreens and saw these new Sinful Colors, Milani and Essie displays.
