I finally broke down and purchased Meteorites from Guerlain! They are lovingly nicknamed ballz by the majority of the online beauty community. Just imagine all the puns you can come up with for that… ^_~
Anyway… I have been interested in trying them for quite some time and finally made my trip to the Guerlain counter. The SA there was very helpful and got me squared away promptly. I had predetermined that I was going to get the ones named Teint Beige and she confirmed that she thought those would be best for me.
First off I would like to mention the packaging on this product. So luxurious, elegant, and overall pretty.
The packaging seemingly is made of metal but it isn’t heavy like metal… so it seems to be some metal/plastic hybrid. Either way, it is no less fabulous. From looking at pictures of Meteorites from the past it appears that most of cylinders that contained the spheres themselves were made of cardboard. Even if the new packaging is a metallic plastic, it is a vast improvement.
The cup is filled with several different colored spheres. The Teint Beige balls are supposed to correct skin tone using mauve and pink to keep skin from looking dull; beige and apricot beige to add warmth; and white and white gold to reflect light.
The colors that I see are:
Lavendar – used to brighten the complexion.
Pearl/shimmery white and beige – used to add reflection of light and glow to the skin.
Pink – used to refresh.
Peachy beige – used to add some warmth and freshness.
I know that the swatch below seems non-existent… but what you can see is a luminosity. Even though several people swore to me that there were no glittery/shimmery particles (including the SA that sold these to me) there is a slightly sparkly finish. I did find that after around 10 minutes passed the shimmer dissipated and I was left with a very natural fresh skin look. That is very much the finish that the swatch below gives off, and truly that was the effect I was hoping to achieve.
Because I am a person with oily skin I was worried that these would have a shiny finish and cause me to look oily/greasy. I like for my skin to look dewy but BECAUSE of the fact that I am oily there are very few products that have a dewy finish that I can actually use. I am looking forward to wearing matte finish foundations and layering this over top to give off the real-skin look.
I would have to say that even though I have been a skeptic for a few years now I am extremely glad that I picked these up. Beautiful packaging, gorgeous finish, and WOWZA! The smell of these is just glorious. I know a lot of people are sensitive to scents in their cosmetics and if that is the case then these are NOT for you. This has a very strong but pleasant (in my opinion) scent of violets.
My Newest Addiction Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ (5 out of 5) As a skeptic coming into this review I am very shocked that I enjoy this product as much as I do. It can be used to give a glow to the areas you want to highlight or give a luminosity to your skin. It all depends on what you are looking for that will determine your use.
