SAG Awards 2012: Kaley Cuoco

My favorite look of the night was from Haley Cuoco who stars in Big Bang Theory.  Her makeup looks amazing.  It is absolutely stunning.

I am not so big a fan of the dress and the makeup together.  The eye makeup, from what I can see, appears to be warm browns or jewel tones where her dress is a funky bright pastel.  Who wore your favorite look from the SAG awards?

Milani Minerals Blush

I was strolling through my local CVS recently because I had some ExtraBucks I needed to use (they expired the day I was in the store) and stopped and took notice of the beautiful Milani blushes.  The prices weren’t marked so I went to the kiosk and scanned them and WOW!  They rang up to be $1.75.  I had $8 worth of ExtraBucks so my heart skipped a beat.  :)  I hurriedly scanned several items and got lots of discounted Milani.  I picked up all of the blushes except the orange one.  I just received an orange blush from the beautiful Mira (Sleek Aruba which is d/c) so I didn’t feel the need to get another one!
If you are interested in picking these up, please don’t get discouraged that they aren’t marked sale.  Go check the price.  Not everything is on sale but there are lots of things that are.
Here are the swatches in natural daylight.
Sweet Rose didn’t really make me stand up and pay attention in the pan but I can see that this will REALLLLY work with my coloring well.  It is a nice cool toned pink.  It is matte and blends very smooth.
Mai Tai is GORGEOUS.  I think that it is my favorite one.  It is matte like Sweet Rose and has the same texture.  It is spectacular.  Below I have swatched it with a very surprising dupe.  *HUGE GRIN*
Luminous seems to be one of the more popular blushes from this line but it seems to be less pigmented than the others.  It is said to be a dupe to NARS Orgasm.  I no longer own Orgasm but it does appear very similar.  This one has shimmer and I am not quite sure this one is as pretty or unique as the others.

Here are the same swatches indoors with a flash.

Here is the special dupe swatch that I promised from above.  Milani Mai Tai and Rouge Bunny Rouge Orpheline.  Wow right?  I bought one blush for over $30 and the other for less than $2.
When I was swatching and playing around with the Milani blushes it just hit me all at once…  Mai Tai is sooo close to Orpheline that I could not resist putting these comparisons up.  This is the picture taken in natural daylight.

Here are the blushes pictured indoors with flash.

The swatches will show you just how similar these are.  WOW.  Mai Tai is slightly more peachy/orange but honestly very similar.  And I would like to mention that the texture isn’t terribly different either.  The Rouge Bunny Rouge is a more creamy feeling powder where the Milani feels a bit silkier.

These are the same swatches taken indoors with a flash.  These are more true to color.  This really shows how similar they are.

I am in love with these Milani blushes.  To be able to compare one of them to a Rouge Bunny Rouge blush without batting an eye should say so much.  RUN TO YOUR LOCAL CVS AND SNATCH THESE UP ASAP! *Do note that if you are allergic or react to the ingredient Mica, that these do contain Mica and I would be careful!*
Funny extra.
I was finishing up taking these pictures and I sat my camera (on the tripod and all) down on my kitchen counter and it snapped this picture.  You can kind of see that my kitchen is filled with makeup/nail polish and package boxes. I am glad that all of the items sitting out on the counter aren’t showing.  lol  Who does that?  Food is supposed to be on counter tops, not a ton of makeup. :)

Thanks for stopping by and taking a minute to see what I am talking about this go round.  If you have any review requests or questions just let me know.  :)  Have you tried Milani Minerals blushes?

Blush and Eyeshadow and Lipstick, Oh My… Rouge Bunny Rouge Haul and Initial Review

I recently placed a zuneta.com order for Rouge Bunny Rouge.  I already gave a sneak preview of this haul on a previous post but I wanted to do proper post with pictures in natural daylight as well as with a flash.
Hues of Enchantment – Colour Burst Lipstick in Whim of Mine
As you all some of you may know, I LOVE nude and MLBB (My Lips But Better) lipsticks.  I have been branching out recently with brighter, bolder colors but at heart I am NUDE NUDE NUDE lipstick girl. I don’t know what is better than a beautiful natural nude lip color.  Let me set you straight.  I do NOT enjoy zombie nudes.  I want a nude that has a natural fleshtone hue in it.  This one is beautiful.  It is very creamy and the pigmentation is amazing.  It has zero shimmer in it and the finish is a beautiful sheen.  It is pretty long wearing as well.  The saturation of color is most impressive.
Original Skin Blush – For Love of Roses in Orpheline.

I have not always been such a blush h00r but as of late I am just obsessed with blushes.  I can’t even tell you what is so fascinating… I honestly am going to chock it up to loving the color pink.
Reasons I love this blush:
(a) Orpheline is a warm strawberry pink color.  I don’t consider it overly warm even though RBR says that it is best suited on warm skintones, I think that this would work for most skintones.
(b) There are flowers embossed right into the blush itself.  I love that!  So femme and pretty.
(c) This blush is so smooth.  I honestly don’t even have the proper words to describe this blush.  I can say that when you apply it, it reacts like a cream blush on your cheek.  It sinks right in and there is no powdery finish what-so-ever.  It gives off a beautiful sheen (NOT shimmer) and looks amazing.
(d) It is a beautiful bright color in the pan and may seem frightening/overwhelming, but as you will see in the swatches below it sheers out nicely.

Long Lasting Eyeshadow – When Birds Are Singing… in Bejewelled Skylark.
You may have seen my other review on the eyeshadows I purchased last go round, so I am not going to get into how amazing these eyeshadows are all around.  I just wanted to show you a picture of the color and swatches.  It is sooo freaking beautiful.  Quite unique if you ask me.  It is a beautiful brown with a red flash.  It sort of looks almost… bronzey?  But less orange toned than a true bronze.  Love it.  Love it.  Love it.

Here are the swatcharoonies…
Natural daylight first.

Flash next…

Also wanted to show you a comparison of all the Highlighting Liquids.  Sea of…
Amazing right?  Wow… I am totally impressed.  I just have no words.  The beauty of these items are overwhelming.  :)  Do you think that these colors would all look good together?  Or would they clash?  I think I know what tomorrow’s FOTD will be.  haha

Diffused Snow Leopard taking Shore Leave and Daydreaming of Orpheline Raspberry Pies

Long heading, huh?  I thought it would be fun to make a sentence out of the products used in today’s FaceOfTheDay.  :)  Pretty simple looks.  I was rushing as usual so I went to one of my standard go-to looks. Taupe eyes and fuschia/pink lips.  Regular camera pictures as well as iPhone Instagram ones.
This picture really captures Snow Leopard at it’s best.  I would also like to mention that on my cheek there is a spot that I “airbrushed” on picnik.com because I was playing around with the premium tools that are “free” now.  I meant to undo the airbrushing before I posted… So please do not think I photoshop my pictures.  I accidentally left that and only realized it just now when posting.

Yikes, double chin action! :) Oh well!

Fun New Items

Hello!  I just wanted to share with you some things that I recently purchased from drivelaboutfrivol’s blogsale. The lovely Kate has some great things and she sells the ones that aren’t hits for her at great prices.  I picked up the Edward Bess Daydream bronzer that I have been using in some of my recent videos.  I also picked up a lipstick from the Dior Addict line called Tokyo.  She was kind enough to send me No. 7 Glamour (Poppy King aka Lipstick Queen collaborated in this collection) and a Korres lipstick in Purple.  Gotta love her choice of colors.  I feel that she is my driving force of trying new lip colors and I must thank her because I have really branched out over the last year.  She always has on the most beautiful lip colors and I WANT HER LIPS! :)
I ordered some Rouge Bunny Rouge items from zuneta.com.  They have been having an amazing 20% off sale (use the code elle20) and I took that as a perfect opportunity to pick up some more stuff that I am interested in.

I picked up the remainder of the highlighting liquids that I don’t own (Tranquility, Clouds, and Showers) as well as a lipstick called Whim of Mine, the blush called Orpheline, and the e/s called Bejeweled Skylark.  I am going to do a post showing swatches as soon as I get some good natural sunlight.  It is so gloomy here lately because of all the rain but I promise I will have good swatches (and hopefully some comparisons soon)!

Really quick I wanted to do a comparison of the highlighting liquids side by side.  This was done in false light really late in the evening so I am going to redo these swatches as well.  I just wanted to see for myself the comparison and I wanted to share that with you ladies as well.  :)

If you have any questions or any requests for tutorials/FOTDs with any of these products let me know.  :D  What have you hauled recently?

Hello again everyone.  I am still making an attempt to get back into making my videos. I did the tutorial for this look on my phone and I find that it makes everything look darker and more dramatic so I like to take pictures with my regular camera as well.  Hope you enjoy! :D

Thank you to those of you that comment on my YouTube channel, blog, and Facebook.  I appreciate every bit of your support/interaction.  I do this for the community of it all.  Blogging/videos for me is just a way to interact with my online beauty community friends.  It is a fun hobby… I am in NO WAY saying I am a professional or that I know what I am doing more than the next person.  I literally grab my camera and document myself playing around in my makeup stash.  :)  Please don’t take my videos for more than what it is.
Another reason I do the videos is because so many people comment on my swatches and tell me they want to see it in a look, so I post a FOTD and then I get personal messages from people asking me to be able to watch me apply it because they don’t think they can make it look the way I did.  I do these videos to show that everyone, no matter your skill set can turn out pretty looks that don’t have to be overly planned out.

Get Ready With Me!… in Curlers?

Hello, as I told you in a post or two ago… I downloaded iMovie so I have been trying to make an attempt at making more videos on YouTube.  This is a look I created yesterday.  My hair is a little wild in this picture and all over my face but I hope you enjoy!

If you like the look, please feel free to watch the video.  Comment with anything you like! Thank you!
Thank you!  Have a great day! Another video coming up soon!

QVC New Beauty Test Tube 2012

It has arrived! :D  The New Beauty Test Tube for QVC has the best items in them.  This is the January 2012 one.  A lot of these items are favorites or things that I have been already meaning to try.  This is how the stuff came this time.  They have changed the tubes from being the see through plastic to a cardboard cylinder.  The information guide doesn’t come inside the tube anymore, but it is laying on top of the magazine.  You may have already seen my pictures of the magazine in my Sneak Peek post so I wont bore you with pictures of the cover.
If you don’t want to read or look at these pictures that I took you can always just watch the video I made on it.  Also, tell me your opinion on the quality of the video when I am filming with my phone.  I just got the iMovie app on my cell phone in an attempt to be able to actively post YouTube videos.  I can even do “on the go” videos.  If you would like to see anything like that let me know as well.
Here are the items that come inside this Test Tube.

The first thing that I pulled out was the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate.  The lid of the product had this cute little guy winking up at me.

Cute right? I am truly interested in trying this, but nervous at the same time.  I have used physical exfoliators in the past with bad luck but I have heard a fairly good number of good reviews on this so I will give it a shot.

I got a full size bottle of the amazing Mally Volumizing Mascara.

I love trying new hair care and this is Traditions by Nick Chavez Yucca Root Shampooing Cream.

Calista Tools included their Achieve 10, which seems to be riding on the whole It’s a 10 theme.

The Tarte EmphasEYES aqua gel eyeliner I got was in the color Plum.  I was seriously excited about this one until I tried it on my waterline.  The main I have gel eyeliner is because it is one of the only items that last on my waterline.  I applied this and it balled up and stung my eyes and I had to pour water drops in them for half an hour to get all the rolled up eyeliner out of my eye.  Kinda ruined my entire makeup look today… UGH… Hate starting off the day with eye problems.  Aside from my rant, I did apply a swatch on the back of my hand and it was budge proof after just a minute of being there.  This leads me to believe that it will be a perfect long wearing eyeliner for the liner on above your lashes.

This is the item I was most excited to try.  I have been wanting this for months and was very close to purchasing it right before I found out the contents of this Test Tube.  I am SURE I will be doing a full on review of this because when I had questions about it I looked up reviews and I wasn’t happy at the small amount of stuff I found on it.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster is another one I was excited to receive.  I have never used any products from the line but I have been wanting a Vitamin C serum for a while now.  That was actually another purchase I was just before making.

Last but not least the Field of Flowers duo from Philosophy was included.  It smells really nice to me, but it is heavily floral so if you do not like that sort of a thing you wont care for this.

All in all the New Beauty Test Tubes cost around $30 and $10 is the cost of the magazine it comes with.  So essentially you are paying $20 and getting so many things to try. A few of the products you receive in this one is around $20 in retail value individually.  You can’t beat the deal.  Try this if you haven’t.  I am not a fan of the past Test Tubes that aren’t the QVC edition, but I know that I enjoy the brands that QVC sells so I can say that I believe I will usually be happy with the Test Tubes related to their products.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my pictures.  If you have any questions on anything in this post just put them in the comments below.

Wet n Wild Mega Last Lipsticks

Hello everyone.  I wanted to show you some fabulous swatches done by a friend of mine.  I don’t typically show swatches of items that I don’t own (or even other people’s photos to be quite honest) but I had to show you these pictures!  She did of course tell me I could use her pictures, and to be fair I am not going to put my watermark on them–hers will remain there.  Anyway, on to the good stuff!
Take a gander at the opacity of these shades.  She said most were only one swipe!  There are some in the line that she doesn’t own but look at the representation of shades that this low cost drug store option has.  AND THEY ARE MATTE!?!  They are like little affordable baby unicorns.  I have always seen them in the store and passed them up because I honestly didn’t think that they look like much in the tube.  When I saw her swatches my jaw hit the floor.
Here is a picture of what these look like in the tube.

Wet n Wild definitely has had me take notice of their brand this past year.  I am DEFINITELY going to purchase a few of these shades, and who knows… I could be reviewing them myself in the near future, or at least wear them in a FOTD (face of the day).  Thanks for stopping by!  Tell me in the comments what is your favorite color from the swatches!
